The Withered Arm
Hardy's Withered Arm short story shows how a dream can become reality when Farmer Lodge's former misused girlfriend, Rhoda, hurts his new wife, in Rhoda's own dreams. This imagined hurt becomes reality. Things start getting complicated, with the involvement of famer Lodge’s illegitimate son, and reach a denouement unimagined by Lodge.
