The Wizard of Oz is a 1939 American musical fantasy film produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). An adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 1900 children's fantasy novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the film was primarily directed by Victor Fleming (who left the production to take over the troubled Gone with the Wind), and stars Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Billie Burke, and Margaret Hamilton. Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson, and Edgar Allan Woolf received credit for the screenplay, while others made uncredited contributions. The music was composed by Harold Arlen and adapted by Herbert Stothart, with lyrics by Edgar "Yip" Harburg.

It’s mind blowing to think that this movie was released nearly a century ago, the entire cast and crew have passed away. But they left behind an incredible legacy that has endured the test of time. Wizard of Oz is one of the most beloved movies of all time across all generations since 1939. These songs have made a profound impact in the music industry. I wish they could all see what a cultural phenomenon their movie has become!

Yeah, crazy isn't it? My wife and I have a 4 year-old son and he LOVES this movie as much, if not more than we did as children. Some movies just remain timeless classics and should never die. The original Willie Wonka is another one that hasn't aged scarcely a day. I mean sure, the outfits and music have changed with the times but not much else.

When Dorothy opened the door of her house to Oz, she didn’t just open the door to a whole new, exiting world for her, but one for the entire globe. From that moment forward, we look today on the Wizard Of Oz to show us where our run-of-the-mill colored films stemmed from. That movie is, can and always will be revolutionary to the phenomenal experience of films that we spoiled ourselves with since then.

All of the main characters passed AFTER Judy Garland. One of the most most talented, creative U.S. artists EVER, she was cut down by poor parenting and movie exploitation. So sad.

I disagree with you in a way. I believe she was cut down by drugs because of the rough life. She had she turned to drugs. She died from a narcotic overdose at the age of 47 so it wasn't a poor upbringing or family that killed her. It was drugs drugs used to cover the pain that she was going through at that time.

Not all of them There are some uncredited that survived There where 124 midgets adults that played munchkins and 10 Kids Witch 3 Kids are alive today and some that died recently Joan keamore 1931-2022 Betty Ann bruno 1931-2023 Ardith dondilville tod 1930-2023 And the other three munchkins alive are Janet comerford Born on march 3 1931 Age 93 Valerie lee Shepard Born in 1931 Age 92 Priscilla montgomery Born on July 19 1929 Age 94 Then the director of the movie Is Victor Fleming 1889-1949 And toto played by Terry 1933-1945 And also there where other 6 Emerald city manicurists actresses that played them but they are probably dead And there where other three guard actors but probably they are dead And there where 3 people working at the start of the movie and they are probably dead And there Is caren Marsh doll as Judy garland's stand alive Born on April 6 1919 Age 104

I know Ray Bolger was in his 80s when he died but his death gets me. I can understand him gone by now; the movies 84 years old. But he was such a wonderful kind loving man I would've liked him to survive into the 21st century and to have met him. I actually met someone born the same week as him only 16 years ago and it's was a beautiful experience so it was have been a nice thought.

I enjoyed this a lot. My favorites were Judy Garland, Ray Bolger and Margaret Hamilton but they were all great. Margaret Hamilton was great as the witch and she was a great actress. I've seen her on an episode of Mister Rogers Neighborhood, in the movie 13 Ghosts, as Reuben Kincaids mom in the Partridge Family, and as Grandma Frump in the Addams Family. I also remember her as Cora from the Maxwell House commercials. Ray Bolger was a great dancer and he played Shirley Partridges cool dad plus I'm also a huge Garland fan. She was so talented and wow, can she belt out a tune. What a great voice and I love all her movies.

I can't believe this happened so sad 😭 I absolutely fell in love with the wizard of oz movie it really is a good old classic When I have kids I want to introduce them to this classic. I had the DVD of once upon a time don't know where it went now. But wherever it used to come on tv my dad used to remind me I watched it all the time when it came on tv. When i use to live with my dad. May all the cast from this beautiful classic rest in peace up in heaven.

My respect and honour goes to all cast of this beautiful movie 🙏😭😭😭🙏 All those cast of this marvellous movie had a wonderful life. The most people from that magical old vintage where much were more happier than the most people in this horrible days where we all live in. Life in 21th century are horrible and people in this ugly 21th century are horrible! I born too late too late in the wrong generation late 20th century.😞☹️😥

Sounds slide some of them just died of old age, not just suddenly. That's a pretty cool way to go. Tragic means painful or battle with a disease usually.

I'm 35 and remember watching the movie as a kid I loved it I never knew how old this movie is most of the cast were dead by the time I was born and it was still a very good movie I get emotional thinking about it because it reminds me of a time when I was so young Life was good much different from now and it's kinda depressing you just need to keep moving forward but looking back is a real trip

That's such a great movie. It came out before my mom was born. The whole cast was great 👍. RIP to all of them. It would be hard to know who All of the munchkins were. The lollipop guild probably were my favorite of the munchkins. I don't have a favorite main character of the movie. I always enjoy it. Thanks 👍.
