I said when I moved in with my partner (now husband) it doesn't matter who earns more, it goes into 1 pot and its OURS, we are a partnership, its for OUR life together. I was not letting money ruin our relationship because I was well aware that it causes a lot of relationship breakdowns. We never argue about money and I look after it all 👍

Same. We both super transparent and have a plan in place that works very well for our family.

My Husband and I have separate bank accounts. He does earn more than me but only because I work part-time since having kids. If I worked full time I would earn more than him. I would never want to give up my financial independence ever.

Unfortunately though money can be such a form of control. My Mum was in a 2.5 year relationship with a guy who was very well paid, he didn’t want to get married and he told her to leave her job so she can travel with him for work. Whilst in the relationship she did have to constantly ask to buy things and if she didn’t tell him he would go crazy. After 2.5 years he ended the relationship and left her but wanted to still control her threatening to not give her the money for the mortgage every month. Because they never married she is entitled for nothing from him. Just goes to show that life can change in a day!

You know me and my partner used to fight about money a lot. It’s not really an argument anymore. Not because money isn’t a worry. It is. But we ask before we buy. We aren’t asking permission to buy it. We are only asking if we can afford to buy it. We are hopefully going to be buying a house soon, which we wouldn’t be able to do if my partners brother didn’t loan us the money for the deposit. We can afford to pay a mortgage but we’ve been trying to save for the deposit for 3 years with no success because life has always thrown us something that takes our savings. We could have around 10,000 if we hadn’t had to have payed for car repairs or new second hand cars. Which is usually what has taken our savings. We fight about each other having an attitude lol or the dishes lol

If any partner feels that way then their relationship is not, will not ever be equitable.

Also I work around 24 hours a week. I work evenings. My partner works around 40 hours a week but he is a supervisor so that can vary. It can be more or less it depends on how much work there is. My partner is the main breadwinner. I’ve been the only one bring in income when I was a single parent but I’ve never been the main breadwinner. And the money is ours. We work for our family. We earn for our family. I don’t earn for me and he doesn’t earn for him. So we don’t argue about money. We have argued about money but in the lass year I wouldn’t say we have. We have both been very lucky to keep our jobs during covid and I know that isn’t the case for everyone. Have I ever considered a job in forestry? It’s hard work and it’s all out doors but they make a good amount of money. Daily. I’ve made £80 in one day 8 hour work and yeah back breaking stuff and the weather was crap but it actually for one did a lot for my mental health. And secondly enjoyed working with my partner. We are just so in love and happy to be with each other. If we want to buy something we ask and we get it if the answer is no. Or wait until the end of the month. We live a comfortable life. It could be more comfortable it could be less. We are aware of that and I’m grateful for that but we also work hard. I grew up watching my parents argue about money. I grew up watching my parents argue. And it’s not like we don’t because we do argue but it’s around disagreements with dealing with our child. Or because someone didn’t do the dishes.

So 3 in 4 still have less, inequality in pay still exists for many. Yes money can be a huge issue. Mutual agreement is important but not always easy to achieve.

Men try to counter this by telling women to stay home to look after the kids. This way men can be the breadwinner while ruining women's careers. Then when there is a breakup, the woman who could have had high earnings has nothing! Ladies, be aware of this. If you want to work, don't let the hubby talk you out of it. If you want to be stay at home mum, good for you! About being careful about what say, men have no scruples to tell their wives to stop spending their money and even turn off a credit card. Why should women have to be careful and look after men's egos. There are men who earn millions or even peanuts, if they want to buy something, they just do it and many don't care if there is money left after their purchase!

Hang on not all men tell their wife/girlfriend that they shouldn't work and should be a stay at home mum, they don't want to ruin women's careers

@@k-dinho9247 Let's not nitpick over adjectives. True, not all men do this, but it is very common especially for the Silent Generation, Gen X and Babyboomers. These ladies range from late 30s to 70s. The older women are, the less likely they made more money than their husbands. It's a rare woman who does from earlier generations. The under 50s have a better time of it. Currently, the majority of women still have to clear things away with their menfolk regardless of how much they make. For me, that's a double standard. As a woman who made more than my husband, I often had to smooth his ego. It was really upsetting because when the roles were reversed, he didn't soothe my ego but basically said he made a decision and wished that I respect it!

You’re so right. And if the marriage fails, the women are utterly screwed and usually left impoverished.

Take responsibility for your own thoughts and actions. Stop blaming men for your failures. The reality is most women do want to be stay at home mums.. some men would love that privilege

Am very very shocked that Kellie has subjected herself to skin lighting - why is she ashamed of being a black woman - she does not need to do this - can really see this when she is wearing pink lipstick - and also promoting body image = she was a black woman promoting this - how false she is!!!

I have been thinking that she does her own makeup, not trusting the show’s makeup artist knows Black skin? That said, all the other Black women on the program always glow and look radiant not ashy. Is it because they trust the pro OR do they ALL do their own makeup and beautiful Kelle is ashy because she DOES trust the pro??? It’s absolutely none of my business either way and yet I still really want to understand.
