Scavenger's Reign is the best, most underrated show of last year. I hate how garbage like Wish has so much publicity, but this masterpiece of art I've barely seen promoted.

I watched it and I had an ego ratatouille moment, not unlike the first time I watched a Studio Ghibli film. I couldn't stop watching it but it didn't feel like I binged the show. It felt more like i was having dinner. Maybe I'm overblowing it. I liked it.

Stuff like this is why I like world building in certain sci fi or other media’s in their own adaptation of specific ideas and sometimes take names of think you expect but they put their own spin on it’s such as the lich from adventure time since liches are mostly undead wizards that uses certain items to get what they want and while the lich does do this they expand on him further into his own thing.thats how you make a character

Moebius inspired artstyle with a heavy reliance on human nature as a theme is truly peak scifi

This show is painfully underrated

What I like about the world building in Little Nightmares is that it’s not only a more twisted version of our world, but it challenges also fundamental aspects of it, for example children never experience hunger only adults (and of course in the first game we play as the only child that can experience hunger), signal is magical so watching TV for too long deforms you, people never get ill, muscle mass doesn’t matter even the thinnest guy can lift himself up and the fattest can move fast and not all of those things are obvious, but they enrich the world, I’m sorry it wasn’t about the world in the video but I like fictional eco systems very much so I’d might check it

Theres a specific scene when the two were crossing through the wall and the female lead stops and witnesses some sort of pollinating ritual. It was quite profound imo

As an aspiring writer and world builder, i can understand why most sci-fi settings feel bland. It's because writers tend to not make worlds for the sake of making unique worlds, they make them to have a place where the story can take place. It's a necessity when you want to write a story that's not focused on the world itself. Battletech is a good example. Despite there being two thousand planets, all of them are just a different shade of Earth. And while this might be bland, the point of Battletech aren't the worlds but the interstellar conflicts that take place on them and between them. Warhammer 40,000 does try. There are planets and aliens that are very unique and interesting. But, again, they don't take center stage because it's Warhammer. Likewise, Star Wars was never about Stars or space ships or laser guns or laser swords or the Force. George Lucas wanted to write a plot center around characters and not the world. This, however, doesn't excuse the lazy writing of modern Star Wars but i digress. My point is, I don't think it's fair to judge a fictional world if that world was never meant to be the focal point of the story. This is where visual storytelling is superior to writing because even the most well-read people can struggle to find the right words. Thank you for listening to my rant. Great video 👍
