Another thing I loved about the world building is they added the different types of accents to the world itself. Geralt's American accent in game is Rivian, the Scottish accent is Skelligan, etc. It is only mentioned a few times in dialogue but it makes you realise that they actually care about those minor details.

Lol - I love that aspect of the game - I find myself speaking in those tongues as I go about my day - annoys the shit out of my kids

This video makes me feel very good about the amount of research I put into a personal project. I researched so many things like what colors were available for clothing, how far wagons could travel in a day (then figuring out how far my planned path was), and even what material cooking pots were often made from. It felt like overkill, but it's nice to know other people appreciate these little details as much as I do.

Funny that I started playing Witcher 3 again this week... To me, it is still one of the most beautiful games to date. The worldbuilding is incredible as well. I've also started drawing while playing the game - it's a pretty fun way to go about your reference 😆

Polish over here! I love slavic folklore and that it has gained popularity thanks to witcher in recent years. So many wonderful artists try their hand at interpreting all these creatures and stories that are very close to my heart. Im trying to improve so I can make them justice one day too. Thank you for your insightful videos

Hi from Czech republic! The mood in the game... I can't really explain it that well, but the game really does feel like it was made by a slavic studio. The forests and greenery during sunny afternoon feel so nostalgic. The quests have that bittersweet feel to them. I was so excited to see a noonwitch, because in Czech, we have this collection of short folktale poems by Karel J. Erben called "Kytice" - "A Bouquet". The form of the text something to get used to, but it's definitely worth it! There are some really harrowing stories, one of them being about the noonwitch coming to snatch away a misbehaving child... Anyone who likes folk tales and this series might like the poem collection! Thanks again for a beautiful artbook review! Now off I go to listen to the atmospheric witcher soundtrack collections here.

a thing about the naming of the places is that the author took real names of places, Novigrad is a real city and it shares the name and the look with its in game counterpart.

Thanks for sharing and pointing this one out, I've been head over heals for a long time! I get to build worlds myself as a career and know that building coherent, immersive and well crafted worlds takes a lot of time and should not be rushed, although I always feel a voice inside my head that I have to rush! I think its just the tempo of the real world confusing us artists. I will take this advice to heart.

I just didn't end the video, but i give you an a advice: as you said, this is a compendium, like a wiki, and NOT an artbook. You should absolutely buy ' The Art of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game '. It's a beutiful artbook of the characters of Gwent (the card game in the game, lol) and it's a masterpiece of art. It's cool FOR ONE REASON: There aren't just pieces of art of the developers. The book is made up of (also) FAN DRAWINGS! CD Project made (long time ago, like 2015/2016) some contests, and they took the better and the most inspirated paintings, to put them in the book, and of course in the mobile app of Gwent. (Android and IOS). Beautiful co operation between CD Project's artists, and all those fans that know how to draw, but maybe they don't really are professionals in their private life. Again, beautiful. Hope you will check it for a future video, and have a good weekend, Adam ! :D

@@AdamDuffArt Hell yeah my favourite artbook :)). You can literally spend an hour analysing just few pieces (especially being a huge fan of the lore). The depth and feel of the characters are perfectly captured. 95% of the pieces are total top tier masterworks in terms of character art. I also love that most images are one per page so each one has your full attention. Can't wait for the video

I've read Wicher twice, other A.Sapkowski's books as well (Hussite Trilogy), and can tell you, every time I noticed something new, coz it's very complex. Polish folklore or slavic in general is very rich and beautiful. It's always an inspiration, and never get bored with that. Mixing it with very talented people and you have masterpiece like Witcher. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about it. Regards from Poland \o/

@@AdamDuffArt Right? :P How do you feel about PDF files as books like this? I personally prefer the physical stuff. The smell of a fresh book. The smooth feel. The feel as it gets aged. All good stuff. PDFs are great, but they lack a lot of the real-world stuff.

1:36 I hope you're not serious. Netflix series was a "woke" and "diversity hire" mockery of Sapkowski's fiction. Writer's straight up say they haven't read any of the books or even played the games in some of their interviews. Haven't met any witcher fans who actually finished the Netflix "reimagining" beyond the 1st couple episodes.
