I think it’s because of Dortmund’s decline in quality over the years. They’ve gone from a Chanpions League final and having stars like Lewa to struggling to be consistent in the Bundesliga and constantly letting go of stars like Haaland and Bellingham. So the Yellow Wall has collapsed with its club. You can disagree with me if you want but that’s just my opinion on it

The reason the Yellow Wall is overrated is international fans. They don't see a lot of German fan culture because a lot of th3m rarely watches the Bundesliga. So they only really see Champion's League Clubs. Out of the three German clubs that regularly make UCL football, Bayern has a lot of tourist fans. Ultras like the Schickeria are actually incredibly loud and active but most Bayern visitors aren't local loyal fans. We don't need to tall about RB Leipzig. Shit "club", no fan culture or tradition. Dortmund out of the three has by far the most active and loudest fans, still way over Premier League or other international league standards. Because of the reputation of having the best fans, Dortmund has got a lot of tourist fans now as well, watering down the Yellow Wall. Dortmund doesn't even have the top 3 fans in Germany now

Funny story: My local club FK Župa was losing 1-0 against one of the worst teams in the league and a fan got so pissed that he went on the pitch himself,yelled at the players for playing like shit and attempted to tackle the oppositions players before being kicked out of the field,funniest thing is that he was drunk so you could imagine the scenes.Best fan in football😂

Yes it is less but I think if you have 25,000 people in one stand you are never gonna get everyone jumping up and down. I think its always been slightly overrated, due to the fact it was big in the UCL but in the buli its not that special compared to what you get from Dresden in the 3.Liga Schalke, RW essen atm, Frankfurt, Stuttgart Hamburg and Koln, dortmund arent really up there anymore. Plus international fans and media overrate rhe atmosphere there because they refuse to actually watch the bundesliga unless dortmund or bayern are playing

To sum it up. The yellow wall is overrated by international fans and is way to much criticized from Bundesliga Fans. Dortmund is still EASILY in the Top 3 when it’s about atmosphere in Germany. Only Schalke and Frankfurt I would rate above them. Dortmund is often over criticized because the club is relatively unsympathetic and has many fans of big club not liking them therefore they are critiquing and treating them extra bad. Dortmund isn’t liked by almost every Team except maybe Köln.
