And plenty of other professionals. I'm a medical technologist in training and they certainly have a small medical facility on the site that needs to be staffed. Or if this specific site doesn't, other larger, more established sites certainly do.

When I was studying mechanical engineering and procrastinated by watching House or Suits I really wished there was a show that would motivate and inspire me to get back to the books. But now I’m watching B1M instead of finishing of that stage 2 report 😹

I consider myself privileged to have been invited to work there in 1996 as part of a team. We were building a laboratory block and living accommodation for the British Antarctic Survey scientists that are stationed there. It was absolutely breathtakingly amazing. It took 13 days to get to work from the UK by plane and ship! To see killer whales, Adele penguins and seals in their natural habitat was so special.We spent Christmas and new year there and although i was only there for 10 weeks the experience will stay with me forever. Keep up the good work :)

My colleague was suffering from routine and repeating patterns in her life and looked for a new interest to pick up. She is now an avid B1M viewer and has made plans to travel to Norway, NYC and London after watching your videos (at work at times!) You guys may have changed a bored mother's life for the better, she is now more driven and motivated...I can't tell what other influences there were obviously but ... I like to think you played a major role there !

@@provenxreaperx Tractor means a lot of things in American English, from generic general purpose farming vehicles to the large wheeled vehicles that haul trailers also known as semis and yard goats. I asked why you said it was unexpected that Americans use tractors.

It takes 6 months when the planets are aligned just right it takes something like 6 years to be in position to launch again. In short it takes a whole lot longer than 6 months.

@@brainwashingdetergent4128 No it takes about 2 years for the planets to be aligned right. So every 2 years you have a launch window where you can go from Earth to Mars, and that journey takes about 6 months. The only viable way of building anything their is using local materials, the Mars colony has to be near autarcic because imports from earth are so expensive and unpractical.

@@DevinHeida This isn't correct. I was a scientist, but the majority of people are support staff. They have cleaners, chefs, plumbers, chippies, cleaners. The lot. Look on the british antarctic website and you'll see the jobs advertised there. Check my instagram @marlyclarky and youll see some cool pics from there. Feel free to HMU with questions

I've seen quite an effective demonstration that BAS have of the need for bio-security. In the small aquarium at their HQ in Cambridge they have one tank where every single thing living in it originated from a single bucket of sediment that they brought back Antarctica.

jasonvii precisely the argument against Brexit. The people voted for it, but the result is inappropriate in the eyes of the few. Boaty Mcboatface was the winner of the contest that was held. It would have brought millions more people’s attention to the project. Especially young people.

The US is also planning a big expansion of McMurdo Station which I think would be the largest construction project in Antartica ever. The PDF master plan is online it would be great to see a video on that too.

I am awestruck at what a massive undertaking this project is. I tip my hat to all parties involved. The level of intelligence and ZERO margin for error that has gone into a project like this is nothing short of phenomenal. To be so isolated for so long whilst working under such harsh conditions is not something any one person could handle. I look forward to seeing the updates on this project and god bless you and all your families for the strength, nerve and ingenuity this takes!

Really nice piece. Well structured, nicely produced with beautiful shooting. A solid documentary all around. But I sure missed the actualities from the field footage. Hearing the natural sound from that powerful footage could have added depth to the storytelling, raising the effectiveness of the package all the more. Keep up the good work. The time and effort spent cobbling this together was well worth the results.

It’s amazing..... I can’t get planning permission to build a porch on my house but here in the most unspoilt part of the world is a massive construction site. Oh I forgot... to study how unspoilt it is, or was before they turned the place into a construction site.

Was it undertaken by yourself or is it using stock footage and interviews from somewhere else? because if its you guys i wish there was a way to nominate it for a KZfaq award for production values, quality of content and information. Wow. im in construction, I drive a 6x6 bell 45ton. I never thought I'd see these types of trucks being used in a place like that. I agree with the narrator that'd be the project of a lifetime.

It's the usual suits patting themselves on the back. Same people that don't know what to do when anything doesn't go to plan, and ask the actual skilled personnel to figure it out.
