@LiveWire937
@LiveWire937 2 жыл бұрын
electric longboards may not be as much of a workout, but they do still wear out your legs out after a while. you may not be kicking, but you still have to steer and counter-act inertial forces etc., so your legs are still doing a fair amount of work. it's like doing pushups vs. doing a sustained plank; one is definitely more intense, but both are still workouts.

But really though you can choose much cheaper components for a usable product, even in the video he said it's limited to 20% so getting components that have about 5kW would make it much more affordable and you'd still have a similar product. (You can avoid the machining costs altogether by not upgrading the wheels, if you're not going recklessly fast it'll be fine, I think.) You probably won't be needing to upgrade the batteries either, the speed controller and PCB is a necessity though. At the end of the day, it's a hobby, it's not going to be a financially sane decision, you'll lose some money, but the understanding is that it's something you like doing and is hence worth the money you spend on it.

Super cool project! So here’s a suggestion for a similar one. Just make the same thing but as a 4 wheeled dogsled ( so bigger still than this skateboard ) that has regenerative braking for when the dogs are pulling hard, to keep the speed down and electric assist for the hills to take the load off the dogs so only a small team is needed.

Color me jealous because I've been plotting something very very similar for the last two years or so, but admittedly on a smaller scale. I was really interested in the VESC open source ESC, multiple can talk to each other over canbus and provide things like traction control and with a bit of tinkering, probably torque vectoring as well. As a 5th year mechatronics major, I am thoroughly impressed and enthusiastic. Definitely want to do some projects hacksmith style in my future

Agreed he should of aimend them down not out so they can blind people but that's the least of the problems with this build, by running two wheel off one pulley they are going to have issues turning on pavement not to mention what was the point of upgrading to those massive motors then bottle necking the power lower then the smaller motors.

Surprised I haven’t been able to find comments about the coupling shaft between the two pulleys on each side not being a good idea. Unless you plan to only go in straight lines this is going to cause mechanical problems. This is what a differential is for. That’s why you see most dual motor skateboards with both motors on the back or in a diagonal front and back configuration.
