But keep in mind that you still get very little access to communication with your familiy. I visited the island for school and one of the inmates there talked about how he was really happy for the treatment he was given and that in 4 years he would be out. As I've stated on another video, a nice prison is more effective, because it probably allows inmates to adjust to a regular life better after serving and decreases the likelyhood they would feel violated enough to seek vengance. They lose the need to comit a crime and those who consider commiting a crime don't have to fear for their lives doing so, so they likely would not go overboard to feel a stronger rush of adrenaline. Though this is not a collection of facts, take this and any other comment on youtube with a hefty grain of salt.

Are you trying to make a dumb point by saying all criminals deserve rehabilitation? Some don’t since it would be useless for literal psychopaths that would take this prison as an opportunity to commit more crimes. It works because the people put here are the more sane criminals committing small crimes which don’t require a severe punishment. You have no brain

The 'normal' prisons: lock you up like an animal, makes you feel less human, make you feel hopeless, are horribly maintained, people usually become worse after this prison. The good prisons: give your life a better chance, helps you get your mentality back to where you understand what you did was wrong, can actually help out people, is actually rehabilitation not torture or dehumanising for as long as you're there There's a big difference, and all prisons should be the good kind not what we have made normal these days

People kill family members all the time. And if the victim is a certain age, the killer isn't punished. This prison teaches the killers how to become a proper members of society rather than developing hatred for it, that's why it's effective and punishment is taken lightly
@helmenhjelmen1955

As someone who has visited this prison. Someone who have had family members who have worked here and other family members who have been sent here has it been a punishment. You dont get sent durectly this prison. You likely sit 10+ years at another prison first and you only get sent here at the end of you trials. In other countries where criminals are punished and not rehabilitated are the criminals more likely to do bad stuff again. Here do they still have to work 8 hours a day. They still dont get to talk to outsiders and they still are trapped on the island. Pretty much the entire population of Norway agree upon how we punish crimes. We take pride in giving people who have murdered a familiy member of ours a new chance. Cause if they can be saved. Can they feel sorry. And they will feel sorry. Would humanity already be getting into them long time ago if they was sent to this island after for example 10 years in normal prison. Norwegians dont believe in punishments the same way many other countries do. We wanna stop the circle of hate. And it starts at these prisons.

being isolated from humanity and stay in a same place all day is the punishment, the reason a prison exist is to be isolated from humanity not to get rapped by other inmates get beaten by prison guards and sit in a block of concrete for 14 years
