Great content - thanks for making it! I'd certainly like to see more like it - especially the R-pi zero vs MKR1000.

At which point is it not a microcontroller anymore and it is called a SoC?
@GaryExplains
@GaryExplains 4 жыл бұрын
The normal differences are 1) An MMU, 2) A GPU of some kind.
@vgamesx1
@vgamesx1 4 жыл бұрын
They're a bit similar, but the main difference being a SoC will have some sort of dedicated logic, so for example if you image search something like "SoC block diagram" then you can find pictures such as this: cdn.shortpixel.ai/client/q_glossy,ret_img,w_678/telecomtalk.info/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-810-Block-Diagram.png You can see here that the Snapdragon 810 isn't just a processor, it also has gps, a gpu, ddr4 memory and likely controller, a display controller, a 4G modem, a hardware media processor and a few other things.

Also of interest would be working without a router, holding forth with an SSID, accepting WiFi connections (over which IP connections, such as HTTP requests) can be made. While you might well connect to that sensor that you tossed into a high tree limb via Bluetooth, that will require an app on, for example, your phone, while it inherently has the ability to connect to and SSID and allow browsing. Multiple simultaneous users are also easier with WiFi than Bluetooth.

You can do the same with Code::Blocks maybe wait till Code::Blocks 16.3 comes out you also need avr-cc-arduino, avr-gcc-library, gdb and headers.

Excellent intro to the Arduino MKR1000. You just blew by the part about putting the ssid and pwd in another file. This will lose a neophyte user. You may wish to point out clearly how your include works, located at github.com/garyexplains/examples/blob/master/MKR1000/arduino_secrets.h

I have a question. I'm sorry if it seems dumb. Can we access the server from anywhere in the world or only from the local wifi that's connected to the arduino board?
@GaryExplains
@GaryExplains 4 жыл бұрын
Only the local Wi-Fi. It is possible to setup your home network/router to forward requests coming from the Internet to your Arduino but that is more complex and open to abuse.

Can it act as 5ghz WiFi AP..?? (Please tell me if anybody knows a pocketable 5ghz wifi ap) Because I want to- 1. Use it as portable device to play Mobile Multiplayer games in office free hours. 2. Connect it to ethernet via USB dongle, this will give me an separate channel & have better web experience.
