You could use those frixxion pens in reverse. You can erase them with heat, but if you put it in the freezer, the ink comes back.

Bottled lemon juice has typically already oxidized, giving it a different chemical structure. More citric acid, less ascorbic acid (vitamin C), etc, etc. Might be why it was so hard for you to get to work as I'd think heat and oxidation would be part of how this is supposed to work. Also, that was his way of teaching me a trick for that year's christmas, since he used to hide the gifts around the house and i had to go treasure hunting. There are special inks that glow under UV light. For example, I use Noodler's Blue Ghost ink in my fountain pen for taking notes in rental textbooks.

There are many inexpensive inks available that fluoresce under black light. Some are clear, but there are also tinted fluorescent tinted inks on the market.
