I really wish the OG Twin Towers (and overall OG WTC complex) was still around today to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Also there was a guy who kind of foreshadowed 9/11 by saying that after what happened in 1993, there would be an attempt to bring down the towers by two planes. Granted, no one could have predicted 9/11 after 1993, but I think it'd have made sense for the NYPD to implement what they have now after 9/11, except after 1993.

What do they have now?? Lmao we just have tsa other than that still could happen

I wish that too... The original World Trade Center & its Twin Towers, has such a huge meaningful presence in NY... Those Twin should have been rebuilt stronger and better whatever the fear everyone felt that time... It was a symbol, not just a building that should be replaced with another design..Imagine the Empire State Building collapsing...What ever the fear it has to be restored as a SYMBOL of the city history... What a shame they chose to replace it with the new building design... The man who predicted 9/11 was named Rick Rescorla.. He was in charge of security for the WTC South Tower 2 (at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter --> a company with thousand workers and more than 20 floors on the Towers). After 1993 he predicted the danger for a next terrorist attack from the air, and he proprosed plenty of SAFETY MEASURES for the buildings, while he educated all the workers to evacuate properly in case of an alarm... Rick Rescorla was there on 9/11, he immediately took actions, took every worker from Morgan Stanley out the building (saving thousand more people from death) and while he had the chance to leave after emptying the floors of his company, he chose to return upstairs to save others trapped... Minutes later he died inside the collapsing South Towers...

They were kind of ugly, impractical buildings. They had a notorious vacancy issue, and the only reason they existed was because of the Port Authority financing meaning that amount of office space could never be commercially sustainable. Just look at most other super tall buildings around the world and a pattern of vanity emerges over prudency.
@ArgirisRamandanis11 ай бұрын
@@BargSlarg You simply have NO IDEA about the WTC Design Innovations . Impractical buildings? Where does it come from? With your way of thinking, the new wtc with 6 Towers is even more impractical than the 2 Towers before… The WTC had always a renting potential and the traffic through the Trade Center was groundbreaking. That’s the reason they wanted to rebuild all the lost office space. After all, you should read more things about the Twin Towers construction method and then you will understand that all modern skyscrapers are built in the same way.
@BargSlarg11 ай бұрын
@@ArgirisRamandanis The new Complex is significantly smaller than the original even assuming Two World Trade is constructed and it still experiences vacancy problems in towers 3 and 4, so I’d ask you, how is 20 million plus square feet of commercial space practical with the Original complexes 20-30% vacancy at any given time?

I visited the Twin Towers As A New York City Trip In 1993 1 Month Before The '93 Bombing. (If You Want A Specific Date Then January 25th 1993.) I Remember Looking Down On The Top Floor To See How Small Everything Was.
Wow!! I can't believe they really titled this "The Rise and Fall..." :/

Even 22 years later were still discovering things from that day, artifacts, Muzak’s that were playing in the plaza when it happened, and body parts from the poor souls who died on that horrible day

Apparently, the WTC were also designed to withstand plane strikes as NYC has 3 international airports.

Yes, Colin, that is true. But they couldn’t prevent what happened although they tried to calculate and simulate it.

@@DWHistoryandCulture the towers were designed to widstand high speed plane crash but the fires damage were not taken into consideration the towers collapsed from the furnintures fires that followed and they stood as they can , for me the loss of all those people and the complex itself is unacceptable and it is sad they were not rebuilt as they were , i currently rebuilding it in virtual reality in every inch to revive the better past we had

IF explosives or some other form of weaponry were used, they weren't built to withstand that either.

you forgot to mention what kind of planes. WTC came up in the 70s. Planes got bigger, better, faster.

They were designed to withstand small airplanes or minor office fires. Not Boeing 767 and 10,000 gallons of jet fuel. They was very strong buildings but they suffered too much damage on 911. They put up a good fight. 30,000 people got out because they stood so long.

Given what took place on 9/11 I get we like too build up but, considering how many Fire Fighters and Emergency Service Workers were Killed that day. I honestly don't see the wisdom in building up so High anymore. At least may be slightly closer too the ground so Fire Fighter's and Rescue Crew's can get too people because I wouldn't be able too handle watching People Jump too Their Death's because their too far up to be helped. This is my one and only concern!

I keep forgetting the 1993 WTC Bombing at the same time I'm thinking what way in the Universe is going on? This was in February on the 26th, 1993, and then April 19, 1993 Waco, Texas stand off ends in a Fiery Death. From the Smoke and ashes of Waco, Texas come Timothy McVeigh on April 19, 1995 The Oklahoma City, Bombing of the Federal building. Speaking of Ironic Timothy McVeigh was Executed on June 11, 2001. On September 11, 2001 9/11.
