The Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg Germany is the world's largest model railway.
10 miles of railway, hundreds of thousands of lamps, more than 130,000 trees and a total investment of more than 16 million US$ make this one of the most impressive tourist attractions in Hamburg. Located in the Speicherstadt you can get lost in the most impressive models, the most spectacular miniatures and most entertaining sets of figurines. Most people spend more than 3 hours here to explore all details and to see the famous scenes such as Knuffingen, Harz, the Alps or the famous Knuffingen Airport.

The MiWuLa - as it is often called - is still growing. The plan is to keep adding new features until at least 2029.
2017 they will be opening Venice and in 2019 Monaco will be added.
I was also pretty amazed by the regular nightfall: Every 15 minutes the sun sets and the hundreds of thousands of lights turn on. And a few minutes later the sun rises again. Absolutely breathtaking and definitely worth a trip if you ever come to Hamburg.
