So wtac story time, I'm from Adelaide, drove 16 hours to wtac, I run the Adelaide corolla club, was standing on-top of the pits watch it's first out Lap and bumped into beau, had a very good chat and gave him a club sticker as a gift from me as I've always looked up to him as a corolla/AE86 guy turns out he slapped the sticker on the left of the boot "black and gold adlC slap" made my day,week,month,year,life... Got to hang in the pits with him and he personally introduced my to kt I was so chuffed

@@drongojonkins8945 That's true but it should hinder him a little bit on the tighter slower turns is what I'm walking about and the chirp chirp is when he's in the pits turning hard for whatever reason. @Neishy4AGTE 5 жыл бұрын
Yeh you would think it would be harder to get the turn in, especially at turn one, it's one of the struggles in v8supercars I'm not sure why they went with the spool over LSD, maybe its not such a problem in this setup.

@@GeoTrashPanda Dude you just called me an asshole and a snowflake online, unprovoked. Who's reacting? Im not the internet hero who thinks he knows how to build a car better than the guys that made this bit of automotive porn. Spools have been a tuning option over lsd for all sorts of different reasons. the Porsche 956 which monstered LeMans in the 70's and 80's ran a spool for example. Maybe you should tell them the car wont turn and will "chirp chirp"

Ben Dover vvt doesn’t just change timing at low revs it retards at high revs and picks up power keeps a consistent amount of volume at part throttle which is good for turbo energy in corners you couldn’t be more wrong.

@MadRS
@MadRS 5 жыл бұрын
V8 Supercars have been running a spool since the early 90's. In race environments it actually gives you perfect control of the rear end. With the wheel turning at the same speed if you have the outside tyre at road speed and the inside over rotating you will get a neutral to slight over steer balance through the mid corner. If you have the inside tyre at road speed and the outside tyre under rotating you will get a neutral to under steer balance through the mid corner. If you have both tyres over rotating compared to the road speed..............that means your showing off.
@MrFoulksy
@MrFoulksy 5 жыл бұрын
@@MadRS I don't know about a spool diff giving 'perfect' rear control, otherwise they would be universally used for track driving. I would use a spool for drifting though. Also a spool will give understeer mid corner compared to a conventional diff because the two rear wheels don't want to follow the arc of the corner, they want to drive straight.
@hpa101
@hpa101 5 жыл бұрын
A spool is not necessarily an ideal setup but as Chris mentions, many classes stipulate a spool and there are plenty of ways to make them work and a lot of understanding around their dynamics. Generally the biggest downside is that the tend to generate corner entry understeer. While a properly tuned LSD is superior to a spool, it actually takes a lot of work to setup and tune an LSD to get the best possible results. On the other hand a poorly setup LSD can easily underperform a spool so it's not perhaps as clear cut as many might assume.
