With Erik Ten Hag’s job in question with United having statistically one of their worse ever Premier League seasons, managers are starting to be earmarked for the United job with one of them being the well travelled Thomas Tuchel. United’s strike rate on managers since Fergie has been underwhelming to say the least and the jeopardy behind each appointment is beginning to grow as the fans and club become more and more desperate - Thomas Tuchel is a great manager within his own right but you can’t help but wonder whether the United job has become a bit of a poisoned chalice. Tuchel also DOES have a few concerns to consider also, so let’s talk about the worry with Thomas Tuchel...

Majority of fans want ten hag to actually get time to cook yet constant podcasts and media talking about other options. We want time for a new manager yet some only want to give ten hag two years and one of those was good. The second was 60+ injuries and off form players. How many lapses of concentration, poor finishing, lack of effort can we blame on managers back to Jose.let ten hag cook and get rid of these players

I think the solution to this man utd mess is to fire Ten Hag NOW!!! because he has lost the dressing room, rarely uses youth, a rigid coach who uses the same sytem every time despite failure & doesn't like squad rotation, then on temporary basis bring a good vibes coach to pamper these prima donnas they might finish top 6 then in summer bring a no nonsense coach like De Zerbi & carry out a PROPER CLEAR OUT. One good thing with De Zerbi is he can do wonders with youth and average players....united won't require superstar signings he will work with talents like Openda, Jonathan Davids, Ivan Toney, Vlahovic, Brahim Diaz, Dyabala 12million release clause ,Sergej Milenkovic, Ousmane Diomande, amadou onana; amadou haidara from Leipzig who happens to be a man utd fan, Johan bakayoko, zubimendi, Latin America talent, replace Rashford with mitoma, Neco Williams or Leao etc

We have to give Erik another year. Tuchel is not long-term or known for being a generator of youth. If we get five good players in the summer it will be a very different season next year. 🎙️ Vincent Kompany defends Erik ten Hag: “I’ve witnessed some of the best playing teams I’ve ever played against as a manager and that I’ve seen in my whole career. So when his team at Ajax were playing, it was something special. It wasn’t something you could attribute to a team of that age because they were really young or the financial resources; it was incredible. “They were up there with the best teams I’ve ever seen play. You know most of those teams in recent times have been associated with Pep [Guardiola]. Of course, there were other managers as well. He was one of them, you know for sure.” “It’s not like we go out for coffees or anything, but I have followed his trajectory, and he’s one of those reference coaches. That’s the reality of it. It goes a little bit against the trend right now, but I’m telling the truth.” Still remember how happy fans were with his appointment and specially after that first season and Carabao Cup and we overachieved first season syndrome Saw this and it’s true

Regardless of Tuchel getting sacked, he wins wherever he goes. Although Thomas Tuchel may be a slight upgrade on EtH I am not convinced that he will provide us with the success we crave. I also worry about Tuchel's character, he is very aggressive and makes EtH seem like a diplomat and we would be in danger of getting another Jose and all the turmoil that brought the Club on and off the field of play. My council to the Board would be to stick with EtH and see how he gets on with the fresh input of players.

I know this season has been rough but I honestly feel that bringing any new manager in just puts us back to square 1 and in 2 years time we’ll start the whole thing again. Let Ten Hag have the time required to move out the deadwood and bring in a squad that functions as a team. If he’s still not good enough then at least the new manager will have a functioning squad to work with instead of the patchwork quilt of a squad we’ve seen for the last 10 years.

He won the Segunda Liga with Estoril promoting them to the Primeira Liga, he won the Greek league title with Olympiacos and he won the Championship with Fulham promoting them to the Premier League. I'll say this about Tuchel. He is one of the few managers that can go toe to toe with Pep and looks at home on the touchline against him. He is pretty fiery as well, which I like in a manager. If the players are not up to the style ETH wants to play, and key players injured, why has he continued in trying to force this style of play? The gaps in midfield are a tactical decision. The shots conceded are a tactical decision. I agree the players haven't been good enough but this man has been setting them up to fail and they've received most of the critism (some of it deserved). The Prem is clearly a tough league and teams with the highest fitness levels and high levels of talent and commitment fare the best. united only have odd sprinkles of this ETH clearly made mistakes how he set up against certain teams but seems to be understanding this . What he cannot do anything about is the level of fitness as we have seen the list of injuries, the push back from players on the intensity of training. We have had our fare share of player scandals to deal with. I really think ETH deserves another season and some fresh legs and to chop out the dead wood . I personally think EtH might be the right guy, but at totally the wrong time and another season like this his position will be totally untenable. Use the time under Tuchel to get our house in order with a guy that no one in the media will question as he's done it before, figure out where the club wants to be in 5 years and build towards it whilst he's there, ready for the next guy to come in and instead of him needing to build a project, the project will be nearly done, he'll be the final piece in the jigsaw.

These are far from those times, the owners don't respect managers the same way, Tuchel is a strong minded manager and I can absolutely get behind a manager that calls the board out on transfers and pushing standards and strategies over. I hope Ten Hag gets it right. We can't keep circulating managers. This new regime either gives him time or gets him out. Either way. Players must go with him. We can't hold onto players because shirt sales matter or the players had a cult goal. It makes no difference in the long run.

@@tris421 For the last decade Utd have signed players in low priority positions - Mount was yet another example. This season we've seen that Maguire has a very strong mentality to recover from all the abuse & ridicule aimed at him, while all you see from Bruno is petulance. In my opinion Martinez is the true on-field general (signed by ETH), but being captain extends far beyond the pitch (time-keeping, discipline, organisation, ambassadorial abilities etc). As for Rashford, Ralf could NEVER walk in the door & convince the Glazers to sell their talisman. Also, there needs to be a buyer in order to sell...fans seem to think selling players is as simple as wanting them sold 🙄. Ten Hag has managed CR7's decline & rightful departure, Sancho's insubordination, Greenwood's off-field issues, record numbers of injuries, even the fact that he can't play Amad as much as he wants because the club bungled his transfer structure - all while working under numpties like Woodward & Murtough. Finishing above Newcastle & Chelsea this season would be overachievement for a team full of mid-table talent like Utd. The transfer fees & wages are irrelevant as they aren't negotiated by the manager

Your sculpture analogy is all wrong. The correct analogy using scuptures and a modern football structure, like the one INEOS are trying to build, would be. The club are the sculpture and the people above the manager are responsible for its style. They provide the blueprints, buy the tools and appoint sculptors who are capable of working with them. That way, if one sculptor isn't working out, they can hire another to take over, without having to buy all new tools or a whole new chunk of stone!

What really concerns me is that if you change manager and the manager wants to see what the team is before he agrees on selling players, some of these windbags are going to end up staying, again. Players that cost a manager their job and are still around to cost the next manager their job. Keep Ten Hag, let this ownership get rid of the players he wants to get rid of, and sign players that suit his system, and see what his system looks like when he's playing with a full deck. And if he's still not cutting it, at least you have a squad now that fits something resembling a cohesive system. Whatever manager you get, we're ripping this squad apart and rebuilding it in the summer, we have to.

The only thing that I look forward to with United is that I'm confident that the new owners are putting the right changes in the pipeline to improve the stadium and other support structures around the various aspects of the club. The young players and youth teams also give a lot of promise. Its going to be a rough couple of years minimum though. A part of me thinks that the club should essentially write off any idea of competing for trophies for a couple of years. Cull the expensive luxuries, bring through a new team that of young and hungry players. Profit off the pitch and think long term on the pitch.

Ferguson just updated Busby's ideas for his era, United should set up a club structure and get a manager to take the philosophy of Busby and Ferguson (Promoting youth from within, pace down the wings, free-flowing, more direct attacking football) and update it to the modern game. The struggles Ten Hag has had would be the same with both Emery and Tuchel. There is no point changing the manager until the structure is fixed and not for a manager on a similar level. You need a manager who can compete with Pep if you were to change manager. That's not Tuchel and he bins off players who are not fully developed. Like Mourinho. These youth players coming through won't be used and sold. Look how many whose development stopped or stalled at Chelsea. He has benched Alonso Davies for most of the season and he has stunted the development of Musiala. He is a win now manager that is not great at it, but his teams go stale after 2 years and start to drop off. He can't get his teams to that next step.
