Make sure you have a Commercial Ocean Enhancement Stamp if you plan to do commercial on White seabass south of point Arguello (Sancta Barbara). This stamp costs 64 bucks. Halibut wise ,technically taking more of the smaller overstock halibut and releasing the bigger breeder size would help the fishery the most but its a huge ask for commercials who are suffering as is with so many restrictions , license fees and operating costs.

Maybe if you experiment with the different swim bait size/brands/ scent it might get closer to the herring hooks. As the water warms up the swimbait might start to have better action in the water too. Im a believer in procure scent.

Dang good from a Yak. Saw a commc'l fisher last week at Oyster Pr marina docks. He unloaded 17 butts from his 22' center console fishin' boat. Loaded up his fish in back of his pickup. Then shoveled ice from bin#2 to fish bin.
@user-ln1up9xi4k
@user-ln1up9xi4k Жыл бұрын
yeah but that guy you saw actually does depend on the fish for his livelihood. I find it a bit contradictory for him to wax sympathetic for the fish stocks, when he's taking fish to sell that he repeatedly says he doesn't need to sell as he doesn't depend on it. So those people that buy his fish could've bought fish from someone who actually depends on the money.

Cool video and concept for fishing but generally commercial fishermen operate from a boat. I’d be too worried about tipping over out there in that kayak. Have you ever lost any that you caught and were towing behind you? I’d think with a wounded fish being dragged behind you that it would attract other fish to feed off it. Do y’all have dog fish over there? Never mind on the dug fish question. I didn’t realize you were in California.
