Fortunately for me Ghost Hunter was just a regular achievement before the diary and i did it for the runescore.

Don’t disrespect the Ghostly Robes miniquest thank you very much!! Some of the best lore in RuneScape’s history straight from 2005. Yes the dialogue is long but was actually worth reading in my opinion, plus the robes are just massively iconic

Achievements shouldn't be balanced to be completed in a few minutes the first day imo, I think it's fine that the ghost impling one exists

The Unpopulated legacy worlds made the ghost hunter achievement really easy

Are you seriously whining about not finding an impling on release date with every player actively hunting for it? Just wait a few days and it should be easy..

To be fair, the Mortyania Tasks and Desert Tasks are more of a hell than Um itself

That really seemed like a massively unnecessary rant about the ghostly robes quest. I don’t remember it being particularly bad at all. I am more surprised you hadn’t done it previously considering the age of your account and the time you put in.

I cut the moonstone before talking to the master crafter to learn how to make them. This caused me to not get the achievement when I made the passing bracelet.

There's a reason they wanted to wait to add hard and elite tasks. There was only so much to do even now. I still think it was too soon.

I havent done it yet so I can be wrong. But if you think about thr desert Quests where you need dozends of hours of dominion Tower to complete them I dont think this one is realy standing out. After all we are still talking about Runescape. I would be underwelmed if all Tasks would be possible in 1 or 2 Hours^^

I was expecting to need to speak to Thalmund 8 times for each of his chat options. The ghost implings I did mid week after we were told it was coming.

It's harder to catch a ghostly impling than it is to catch us guys in the next one.

The moonstone locked requirement is also absolute trash for ironman accs, I have to hope I get one as a drop from rituals or wait for Thalmund to have one. Between the ghost impling step and the moonstone locked req, jagex showing us that once again they have no idea what they are doing.

The ghost impling in ghost robes achievement was already on release of necromancy and is already checked off if you had it before the release of these area tasks

Tbh the implings are pretty common if you know where they spawn, I found 5 for my clan in the span of 15 mins of hopping I'm way more frustrated with the bracelet crafting as an ironman. I already made it a couple of weeks ago and now I have to make another one while I don't have the amu yet. Feels really bad man.

For that miniquest, looks like you didn't get scenario 3 like I did. The last NPC is in an area with aggressive mobs, who will attack you DURING DIALOG, which mean you have to go through the endless dialog over and over until you get lucky with the mobs not interrupting.

Many of us irons have to wait until aug 21st or risk going 100m xp dry at rituals for "Passing the Test"

I usually agree with you, but your take on the imp catching achievement is flawed. It is not the achievement's fault you did not check if the gloves were equipped. It also would not have taken you an hour if you had seen the first one. The update is terrible, but for two different reasons. First, the passing achievement that requires a moonstone is absolute garbage. The fact you cannot get a moonstone for 20m on the ge is crazy. Second, the elite achievement that is time-gated is absolutely illogical.

I did the Ghost Hunter achievement while doing rituals on the way to 120. I just wore the Ghost robes and waited for a Ghost Impling to appear. Didn't think much about it at the time, but given your frustration I'm very glad I did it when I did.

These tasks really disappointed me. The soul rune crafting felt like a desert task, the bracelet task is miserable as an ironman, the ritual disturbance achievement sucks as an ironman because we almost always use multiply on everything, etc etc. It feels rushed and not thought out really

Interesting perspective. Most people in my ironman clan are upset about the moonstone achievement since most of us already made the moonstone jewellery. A few people already cut their spare moonstone before the achievement was released

i spent over an hour hunting for a ghostly impling this morning and have absolutely nothing to show for it. checked all bracelet teleport locations, went out on the boat, ran around the city, hopped 100+ worlds, never been so frustrated over an achievement diary task lmao. I have no problem with achievements being *difficult* but being forced to interact with a limited spawn that's ALSO competitive with other players and seemingly only has a single source in the game (not sure how many can spawn in um but it seems like one at a time?) is NOT diffiult, its rng based tedium and sucks all the fun out of completing an achievement, especially for an area diary.

Working on ritual grind in hopes of getting a moonstone because scalpers galore run the GE. Despite already having a bracelet of passing myself. I pity all irons- Update: Thalmund WILL NOT have moonstone until August 21st. What the actual fu-

definitely a skill issue, I logged in 12 hours after the update, grabbed my ghostly robes out of the poh, went to um and hopped on a boat, found 4 implings on my first lap around the city. Turns out that content with limited resources only sucks if you decide you have to do it asap

this is a no issue....you had a year to do this befoure it become a task....AND its only a issue on day 1 of release...uneeded crying. the moonstone is worse if you don't read properly.

Tbh, the ghostly impling thing isn't really an issue. It's just because it was on day of release, once most people have theirs it'll be just like any other hard task.

I think the main problem here is that the playerbase is expecting for a new diary to be completable day one. It doesn't need to be.

almost half were repeats which I had already done, now i have extra passing bracelets. etc.... waste of time.

It only took me an hour or two to finish all except time locked ones. Then again, I did do most of the exploration achievements before hard and elite release so didn't have to fight with other players over finding an impling. Plus, hoarding materials was useful towards making a passing bracelet. :)

I don't believe Jagex should change this achievement. If you aim to complete the diary as soon as possible after its release, it will understandably take some time, especially since many players are also searching for the Ghost imp. There's no obligation to complete this content immediately upon release. Remember, content isn't designed to be rushed and finished within 30 minutes of being released; in my opinion, that would result in poor content. Yes, you could rush it, but of course, it will be crowded and it will be miserable. Other diaries have tedious achievements as well, so I don't see any reason to change this one. They are Hard/Elite for a reason.

Surprisingly I had already completed the achievement when it got released because of a cape requirement, so thank god I didn't have to deal with that this time.

Its taken me 2 days to finish all of the City of Um Hard and Elite tasks [Minus the Thalmund and Sanctum of Rebirth elite tasks] and yet I still haven’t completed the Elite Desert Tasks because it’s locked behind completely finishing the Dominion Tower and its fully RNG reliant lore drops.

You can do like6 of the Elite hard tasks, other two are locked, Wednesday for The ghost to pop up next to kali and other one on Sanctum of rebirth

Hard achievement diary task turns out to be hard and everyone loses their mind. These things aren't supposed to be completed in a day, people.

Huge skill issue, also these achievements aren't made as a 'do them now' kinda thing, it's meant to be part of the game and if players try to do the ghost impling one like 6 mnths from now, it's gonna be so easy

I'm just waiting for a few days til people calm down from the ghost impling... That's just crazy hard to get one even in normal circumstances...

Honestly, the main reason I think this achievement is hated so much is because there is no progression in it. There are other achievements that take an insane amount of work to complete - The Desert Tasks have you complete the entire Dominion Tower, which is an insane amount of work. But you feel you are getting closer to completing it. You need 450 kills for a dreadnip.. but you are getting closer as you have 20 kills... 70 kills.... 269 kills. There is a sense of progression. - The Morytania achievements have you complete Temple Trekking to the max... and especially with how slow Smidi Rayak is... it takes a looooooooong time... but again, you are slowly progressing while doing it. With this one task, you can stand/search/run around for 3 hours and not get any closer to it than you were when you started. You can't go about your business... spot a Ghost Impling by chance and get it quickly. No! First run to the bank and get the full set again and then run back to find it gone. With the others, you can at least plan a bit... prepare a bit to complete it. This one... it's either pure luck or a 3-hour search-fest.

I'd say finding a moonstone to make the bracelet of passing is harder than catching a ghost impling.

The achievement to make a bracelet of passing in the city of I’m made me mad. I already have one and now I have to make another which is ridiculous.

Definitely a skill issue, this is pathetic if you think it's the worst update of the year. Also, definitely a personal problem if you think tasks should all be completable in the first five minutes of release.

As I was watching this, I found a ghost impling on my fifth world hop. That will be the best RNG I get for the next ten years.

I had to catch it twice too. First time I was wearing the farmers ghostly outfit...because thats what showed up when i searched in the bank along with other ghostly robes. Then had to come back and specifically check poh to get it done after searching for over 4 hours, fed up and going to bed and waking up the next morning. Surely as time goes by it'll become accessible. Release dates are competitive...

Personally I hate any content locked on certain days or behind multiplayer minigames. It took me years to find a game of castle wars to complete those achievements.

Weirdest one for me (elite achievement, not hard), is needing the Soul cape for Fetch Me Their Souls. Memory of Nomad is a trim requirement that I haven't gotten round to yet, now we need to have done it (in under 20 minutes) for an area task??

I actually thought the ghost hunter achievement was awesome. No need to cry about a difficult achievement. Should they have just given the Underworld Grimoires for nothing?

If you don't like the passing bracelet achievement, blame the #2 mod of the subreddit: it was eir idea. Don't blame Redditors; when that one idea out of a long list got called out, that mod tried to defend it & got deservedly downvoted. The JMods didn't bother to read the full discussion.

Grimoire is actually really op if you consider lower - mid level players using it to make money, I understand making it annoying to get. That way it’s not just a handout.

I'm usually onboard with your opinions but this is just stupid. Imagine working on content for months as a developer and then watching youtubers complain that it took them more than 30 minutes to complete.

I'm so glad I got that achievement already as a part of my work on the comp cape, lol.

They could make ghost hunter a lot easier by adding ghost implings to puro-puro. Like they did with every other type of impling introduced after puro-puro

I think people that invested the time to get both the death note relic and the bone crusher upgrade, will feel the pain of the bone auto banking perk

the ghostly imp was already an achievement, and it was kinda obvious that it was going to be convreted to a area task. so everyone could have done it beforehand

Lmfao, I just did this quest on OSRS with my friend and we laughed at how much dialogue was there. We even had Pkers show up at the Chaos Altar as we are talking to the ghost, they attack him and chase him out of the building and toward the ditch, meanwhile Im still spacebarring through the dialogue, they realize Im still there so as I see them turn around I world-hopped. And still had to talk to the damn ghost AGAIN to finish the dialogue and get the piece.

you've had nearly a year to complete this achievement, why hate the game if you just lacked doing it when it got released along necromancy

It took me approximately 20 minutes to catch that impling. I hopped on a boat and went South. 😅

First time completing achievements? they're all tedious. Elite Morytania requires Ritual of the Mahjarrat, these are nothing in comparison

Took a while to find but found it within 15mins ish around the mushroom farming plot. But I was annoyed that I had to take my Ghostly robes out of Keepsake...

Achievements locked behind RNG or time gates is bullshit. Being lucky isn't an "achievement"

You would have had the achievement like an hour and a half earlier if you didnt mess it up constantly though to be fair. Also it will be a lot easier when its not day of release and people dont care so much about the ghostly implings. And also also the sanctum of rebirth achievement is on a grace period. We can get the grimoire 4 as soon as thalmund shows up.

The ghostly robes quest there gives lore on the wildy, and is a lot easier than when it was a pvp ground. Ghost implings are also going to be very scarce so soon after the content release. I found my at the docks, but typically find them before near the mushroom patch.

This mans said finding and catching a ghost imp with ghostly robes equipped takes longer than a grand master quest. Yet i can't stop running into them on w36 every time i'm on.

You can hold space on Dialogue instead of pressing space.

They are also in Morytania. This is the day of release, of course it's competitive now. Shouldn't be a problem normally. Imo don't see the reason to complain.

Wasn't the catch a ghostly impling in ghostly robes already in the achievements? I swear I already did that before. Might have been in the lore/comp achievements tho

protoxx, the ghost hunter achievment got released with the release of city of um and necromancy, all they did was move it to become a task-achievment. it was in exploration before.... so its not a new release, (since u say the ghost hunter one if the reason for the video title, it means ur title is incorrect as it was a 2023 release :p )

The moonstone one I would agree, it was kinda backstab for irons... the tome is really overpowered and worth the grind :) Ps: Just finished to watch full OSRS swapletics series from Settled... I don't ever think i'll complain again about something on rs3 ^^

For sure a skill/brain issue... Hop to low pop world, go to one of the few spawn points. I did this on my main and alt account in sub 2 minutes each

The ghost hunter achievement isn't that bad Protoxx. It's only because EVERYONE is trying to hunt one right now. Give it a few weeks and it'll be way easier. Anyone who's done the regular impling achievement for reg comp knows this struggle already. I still have nightmares of trying to find a Kingly impling for days. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
