We actually haven't seen enough. Just because an unreliable US news source told you that there unicorns in the DPRK does not mean it's real. We actually don't know many things about the DPRK; there is a news source in the internet by North Korea, but everyone's too bored to check it. After all, the US is obviously objective when talking about an isolated country and opposes its imperialism.

I can confirm African educational system is the worse. We get beaten in elementary school for anything by our teachers. Religious subjects takes a majority of importance, everything is rigged, parents will beat u too if they realize your teachers bear u, women get abused the most in university (basically sex for grades or worse, sex to be able to stay in college) and the multilingual thing isn't working so well bc we don't get to choose which languages we want. Even with a diploma, you can't find a job so you end up in a job that doesn't even require degrees... And you wonder why we migrate. Few of us who come back after studying to make a difference, get depressed and end up as bad as the corrupted ones.

I think it's safe to point out that not every African country is like this. Most of them are, but some are slowly and surely combating the corruption. As for the educational system (speaking for my own country) it really does depend on the school you go to. Private schools discourage corporeal punishment and encourage other forms of discipline. Their curriculum is more updated in comparison to their Western counterparts and they have so much to offer. But unfortunately they are in the minority and not every citizen can afford access to this form of education...

To get the HDI number of a country you need to have scientific data around certain things. You are mentioning knowledge as if the HDI was based mainly on that. Sure we have a lot of knowledge about The Democratic People Republic of Korea (aka. North Korea) but we have no scientific data about the population since the country is so strict about information. To describe a country’s population based on escaped citizens is not enough. Therefore it is not right to say that North Korea is the worst place to live because we don’t know enough about the country’s HDI. And the statement of yours is very weak and you need to release yourself from whatever you are told.

I was just saying that regardless of HDI I believe North Korea would be the worst place to live, with the limited information on it being evidence of that more than anything. @@lefatih1209 oh yes, thank you random stranger who knows all about my life. How my OCD makes even cutting bread stressfull because all I can think about is that damn knife cutting into my thumb and contaminating the entire kitchen with blood. How housing prices are so expensive that if I'm ever going to afford bying a house I have to start saving at 10 years old, because my parents are to poor to help me buy a fucking house. And yes, I am aware I'm still better off here than elsewhere. I think about it every time I go to the store, get pulled over by the police, every time I get sick I'm never afraid because the general health here is okay. How when I needed to have 23 screws and metal poles screwed into my spine due to my scoliosis. Learning to walk again wasnt that easy, but atleast I could have the surgery. Every time I have a compulsion due to my OCD I think about how lucky I am to live where I live so that I actually was able to get diagnosed and get help. Every time I drink from the faucet I think about how other people cant, and they have to walk dusins of kilometers each day to get water. Every time there is food on the table, and I ask my mom in norwegian if shes finished or if I should leave some extra food so she can eat until she's full, because there is never enough food on the table to fill us both up. I get this wierd flash about how I live here up north and how I shouldnt be ungreatful, because even if I struggle, people elsewhere can struggle more. Stop thinking you have anwers to things you know nothing about. In my comment I said its nowhere near perfect, and its stressful, atleast for ME. That doesnt mean I'm not greatful for living here. You have no idea how many times I've had conversations with friends where we feel guilty for living here while people get killed for speaking their mind, or they got sick so they couldnt get water. But waking up every day wanting to die, that feels the same no matter where you live. Dont come here and try to pull that victim card of yours. You might struggle with where you live, and I'm not taking that away from you, I bet you have it worse. But that doesnt mean other people can struggle too. You do best to remember that

The amount of studying required for things like the Leaving Cert or Junior Cert, which all of that effort is useless since you're not learning anything new with it, is ridiculous. My school recommends 6 hours a day as their MINIMUM time for studying during the Leaving Cert on WEEKDAYS. Weekends are 8 hours minimum... While they also simultaneously say that they advocate for a school/free time balance. The amount of studying required should be decreased since the priority should be actually learning things rather than spending your childhood preparing for tests. And I don't get why Irish, which is a barely spoken language, is a core subject? It just teaches people to hate it. North Korean defectorsoften end up being very poor in North Korea, when they tell some crazy story to a Western or south Korean news outlet these outlets always make sure the defector gets paid. You know who else is extremely poor in North Korea? 98% of the North Korean population. @@dingdring6317 just no, most south Korean defectors were border troops who didn't want to live in South Korea anymore. North Koreans aren't really poor if you consider that every citizen of the DPRK gets a house, healthcare (the DPRK has a higher life expectancy than Russia) , an education and enough food to live from (the DPRK has a lower starvation rate that rich countries like Chile). The most prominent reason north Koreans defect to the south is because they get a lot of smuggled South Korean propaganda which gives them the idea that under capitalism everybody can easily become rich and that everybody lived there in giant house and has expensive cars but when they actually arrive in South Korea they end up dirt poor on the streets, and they realize that the life they had in the DPRK was much better.

Just because they are given those things does not mean that they're by any means good housing, or good education, or good Healthcare my guy. It's a trade off. Nothing in this world is for free. There's always a price to something. They're literally required have a picture in their house of the dictator that's currently in power. They're not aloud to leave their country or form their own opinion. It's a one party state. Theyre taught propaganda from a young age. Does that sound good to you? Does that sound like a place where you can actually claim that everything you own is thanks to your hard work, not your dictator's? The only thing I don't doubt you on is the fact that North Korean defectors still experience hardship in the countries that they defect to. Obviously, because it's real life, not a fairytale. But that they had a better life in NK? Bullshit. At least they're able to be free, and I'd rather be dirt poor and have volition of my own life rather than being caged mentally, emotionally, and physically. @@dingdring6317 north Koreans are not required to have a picture of their leaders in their house and are allowed to have an opinion on the party, it's all just fake news from some south Korean channels your believing. The DPRK actually is a democracy in which the people vote on a candidate list which they themselves created, and it's also not true the DPRK is a one party state as you got many more parties like the social democratic one. I know you probably think I'm some kind of tankie but just think logically, if all north Koreans must have a picture of their leader in their homes than that must be in their law, but it isn't, the only news channels who say something like that are south Korean. Something also not to forget is that South Korea is not a free country, it's not a democracy (the people can only vote for capitalist candidates because socialism is forbidden there), workers have nearly no rights and although the country is one of the richest in the world there's still widespread unemployment and homelessness. The DPRK, although much poorer and sanctioned by 90% of the world, still enjoys an above average life expectancy which means that healthcare must be above average. The DPRK also has one of the highest literacy rates which means the education system is good and their homes, although not the best of quality, are still good places to live in, and especially if you compare the quality of homes to the crappy ones in American cities like Detroit the people of the DPRK really don't have it so bad.

@@gb76231 how about you use some common sense. No one is going to be happy while starving.. hence happiness is a better judgement overall. Doesn't matter what facility or tech you have if you ain't happy. Happy essentially means food water and shelter is there. Simply being high tech doesn't exactly mean better is what I am saying. Don't recall saying starving people are happy...

Yes, but that's too expensive for those who benefit from the current system. Haopiness also requires financial stability. A universal income might erase poverity. Help with depression, opens up education for everyone, people can afford being healthy, etc... But that is too expensive. The system/people would rather destroy it-/themselves, rather than change.

@@bruhhh8703 Even of the Single number measurements, which all are bad, HDI is clearly not the best. Check Out MEW (Nordhaus & Tobin) for example.
