I used to think that I would never get decent and confident on a skateboard again. But now I'm going to keep skateboarding and pushing until I am better than I was whenever I quit.

Your a living legend Rikki. Your one of the biggest inspirations for getting me back on to the skate board after a 7 year break. You and Andy Anderson and Dan Corrigan and Dale decker and Julian Cummings and Jonny giger have inspired me to get back to a point where skateboarding is a very important part of my life again.

I injured my wrist dropping in on a half pipe, laughed it off and moved on with life. 15 years later I kept wonder why my wrist would swell up occasionally and hurt so bad. Went to hand surgeon for x-rays. Turns out I tore the ligament and tissue that holds the hand to the wrist, and had bone on bone grinding happening. Woops. Should have been like Ricky and straight to the hospital to play it safe. Always take care of your body and wear protective gear. Cheers Ricky. Your one of my favorites. Plus I skated every day in Australian when I was an exchange student there. Loved Sydney and Penrith like a second home!

Man I could feel these. I’ve been skateboarding for 22 years and have adopted a “safe” style. It means I’ve never been seriously injured (knock on wood!) but also that I haven’t progressed to anything more than my regular array of flip tricks, bank skating and just having fun. I’m glad as a father now that I can skate for many more years to come with my son, but seeing the punishment you’ve taken definitely makes me feel like I never really took risks!

When I first started skating, I did a drop in on a massive quarter pipe too, I chipped 3 of my teeth and my mouth was bleeding and I was also around 10 at the time so that was super painful for me, luckily I did have a fast recovery.

The crazy thing about some of those injuries is some of the bails looked like they weren't that bad but still had some pretty bad results. I have a ton of respect for what skateboarders can do but the risk is too high when my job depends on my hands and arms not being broken.

You know whats really funny...he went to his high school graduation on crutches right... And i just broke my leg like 3 weeks ago trying to ollie a 4 stair. And this year im going to my high school graduation and i will have crutches haha

Hey, I also got stitches on my face. Well, not my face my lip whatever I was like like one thing I thought they were on the stairs and very open my whole lip. It was already open photos of the stitches but now I’m in 11.

as you get older bro, you heal slower. It is the bad news I know. I can not skate without protective gear, knee, elbow, shin guard, wrist, helmet, butt guard. No groin yet though.

I personally think that sets a bad example even though you all seem happy go lucky but i tell my 2 kids if someone falls at the skate park , help them up, see if their alright and go get their board for them befor someone else gets hurt too or is that just a aussie thing ? Oh did you get health insurance as a job purk with taking a position on the team?...or even have to sign up for the stunts union thats used in the film industry and have sports insurance to have cover? Or do they have a work cover system that pays all your medical costs and lost wages in place as we have in Australia. And you can get a lump sum pay out if the injury is bad. I got paid out $300, 000 for hurting my back at work with work cover and they still cover my medical costs for it and its been 10 years ongoing.
