Whenever I hear this song I have to think of that one Emma Stone interview were she claims to be obssesed with it, and I am pretty sure that this song brought many plp into kpop back in 2012 (at least from what I remember). My dad actually looves old Shinee music so much, ESPECIALLY ring ding dong and mr simple. He adores PSY and 'Catalina". He loves the goofy kpoppy kpop music. That just goes to show that it depends on the person, because some locals are just dormant sleeper kpop fans.

@tenouttatenkpop my friend first introduced me to bts and and I liked their music, so I kept on listening, and youtube put cat and dog there as a recommendation. So I clicked on it and listened, I thought the lyrics were weird at first but then I found myself humming it throughout the day so I went back and listened and actually liked it so yeah 😊

I take issue with SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong" being in this video. It was literally one of THE main songs that got me into KPop and SHINee in particular back in 2009 when a friend in college played it, "Replay," "Juliette," and Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry," "Dancing Out," and "U" as well as TVXQ's "Mirotic." Ring Ding Dong got stuck in my head for DAYS after watching the mv and while I cursed her at the time, I gotta thank her for it--I wouldn't have discovered my ult groups NCT and Stray Kids without her introduction to their sunbaes back in the day.

hmm that’s a good point! fully agree in the sense that ring ding dong is absolutely iconic and very much an ear worm that gets stuck in your head - i just think that in today’s age if you showed it to someone who had no kpop experience whatsoever you might not get the best reaction compared to if you showed them a more gateway type song (like bts english singles maybe?) but ofc there’s always exceptions and i’m happy to see that you were one! i’m pretty sure someone else in this comment section introduced a friend to kpop via wolfgang - so you always have these edge cases where these crazy kpop songs turn ppl into fans. also you have taste 👀 (i also ult nct if you can’t already tell from the channel name LOL)

Every KZfaq reactor who watches RDD has the same pattern ... confusion ... then laughter ... then a big grin ... then happily rocking along to the music ... then obsessively repeating the refrain long after the song is over. I definitely understand why people are worried that non-Kpop fans won't take it seriously if RDD is their introduction to the genre, but I really do think most people love the song the first time they hear it. It's simple, catchy, has an outlandishly dated MV, iconic choreography ... it's the heart and soul of 2nd gen Kpop.
