When i was really young and just barely learning about music, I remember i heard this rock band on the radio and really liked it. I saved up money from recycling cans and went to a Tower Records (I'm old) and went to an employee and tried to explain what I was looking for. It was a heavy band..."something garden". Dude says oh yeah, it's right over here. He helps me pick out an album and rings me up. I get home, put the CD on and have never felt so confused and let down. The employee thought I was talking about Savage Garden. That sounded heavy to me. It's a Garden, Savage sounds like it's pretty heavy. Nah fam. SoundGarden. I was trying to find SoundGarden and got fuckin Savage Garden instead. Its hilarious now but young me was so sad.

For the record, Bsb sold more albums than N Sync so I don't think they were the Megadeth of boy bands. In fact BSB is the highest selling boy band of all time. Also Savage Garden is not a boy band. They are a duo. They wrote their own songs, played their instruments. They are good pop. They're from Australia not Britain.

Backstreet Boys= Stone Cold Steve Austin NSync= The Rock Yeah Dwayne Johnson has had a MUCH bigger post-WWE career, but during their times, Stone Cold was more over by a fairly wide margin. Backstreet came first and had a higher peak, but NSync eclipsed them towards the end and Timberlake's solo success makes them look bigger than Backstreet Boys in retrospect NKOTB is Hogan, One Direction is John Cena

You're mostly right. Backstreet peaked from 98-99. NSYNC peaked from 00-01. BSB and NSYNCs peaks (Millenium and No Strings Attatched) were actually extremely close in popularity in America. But worldwide, Backstreet's popularity completely eclipsed NSYNC. Great analogy though.

YES! this is the content I subscribed for! Before the metal head gate keepers came and made Finn feel like that's all he could talk about Finn, I always hoped you come back to the TRUE you talking about pop music and 2000s reality TV! For real tho, as a small growing channel, I completely understand following the trends to build the platform by doing the "read the wiki page" videos. But I'm so happy that you're leaning back into the stuff that YOU want to talk about because aside from the nostalgia, you have a very unique perspective as a more legit than most metal/punk aficionado, but also a family man who's worked in the corporate side of things I'm not unsubbing no matter what (I mean unless you kill someone or something) but I am one person who loves seeing the more lighthearted stuff and the stuff that isn't just for the metalhead engagement 🤘🤘🤘

Boyzone were Irish and predated Backstreet Boys by a little bit. A Different Beat isn't even a big hit of theirs (or at least I don't think it's remembered the same as the others) but I think about that song a lot. It's a catchy chorus. That Savage Garden song is still a banger. They're Australian, by the way.

Controversial opinion: a long time ago, I actually once argued with someone that One Direction is legit better than BSB and NSYNC. I was a teenager when One Direction was a thing and a young kid when these others ruled the radio. I feel like 1D had legit good pop songs while the late 90s/early 2000s boy bands were overly cheesy and just fucking awful. …I still have that opinion. This shit is terrible 😂 some of these songs are very easy to sing along to because of how massive they were, and maybe aren’t so bad when you’re drunk, but for the most part? Garbage 😂😂😂

Darren has a gorgeous voice and with only 2 albums they made some of the best love songs of the 90s. Are they corny? Yes. Both Backstreet and Nsync started out in Europe. They were formed and managed by Lou Pearlman. They were also signed to the same label, Jive. I believe it was. The rivalry was between the Fandoms but never the members. Personally, I didn't pick a side. I loved both Backstreet and Nsync equally. I was proud of both bands for suing Pearlman for royalties/buying their band names from him back in the day. He swindled money from every band he formed in some capacity.
@truediva18
@truediva18 Жыл бұрын
The rivalry was created by Lou Pearlman and his greedy actions. He wanted to corner the market, so that's exactly what he did. He would tell one group bad things about the other. Did you see The Boy Band Con documentary from Lance Bass. He breaks it down for everyone. It was crazy. Now they are all friends and perform together on occasion. Is there a particular combo you would like to see? I would love to hear a duet from JC and Brian.
@meganedwards1039
@meganedwards1039 Жыл бұрын
@truediva18 JC and Brian would have been amazing about 20 years ago. I love Brian, but JC would have to carry Brian nowadays. With his voice being what it is because he doesn't rest it as he should so he can heal completely. Some nights I hear the old Brian and I'm happy but when I see him have a bad night vocally I know it bothers him more than he let's on.

This is going to be an interesting follow up to your Metal fans video. I'd look at the Nsync and Backstreet Boy album booklets as a kid, and thought Nick Carter looked so cool where I tried to spike my hair like him (I think it was the Black and Blue Nick look and then DBZ's Tank Top Future Trunks influenced me to spike my hair as a kid), and when reading the Nsync albums, and you might correct my misremembering in this video, but I thought Justin was more heavily involved in the music process, and he was my favorite. I still can sing their songs from heart so much that when I thought about relistening to them recently, I didn't want to because, even for the songs I liked back then, I know they wouldn't hold up for me. Except "Makes Me ill", the opening to "Bringin Da Noise", and then listening to some of the more aggressive songs off of the "Celebrity" album as a kid is where I can see where how'd I go to being so into Nsync to being so into Slipknot and KoRn because of that angry Sport Metal energy. Although, I've tried to clean of my music tastes since then. Thanks Finn! Looking forward to your thoughts! Hope you're having a good week!

@@lethybridtheorygolucastheo2191 Hey, thanks for your reply. I mostly listen to metal: Sabaton (Soldier of Heaven), Iced Earth (Brothers), Thousand Foot Krutch (Phenomenon), (Disturbed (Haunted), Devils Never Cry from Devil May Cry 3 lately so regardless of any fandom, it doesn't prevent me from wanting to listen! The deterrence for me is more trying to find high energy music that don't have junky lyrics or bring me down so if you have recommendations, feel free to share!

Finn. I really think it is time for all of us here to check out your next Video on the Big Four of 2000s Boy Bands. Like, "are the Backstreet Boys equal to Metallica, or is it N'Sync? Or is N'Sync simply the Megadeth of the Big Four?" Edit: okay, you already mentioned it here in this Video, haha. Good Job, man. 👍

If this is about 2000s boy bands, why are you playing videos from the 90s? The term "video clip" is very German. Boyzone were from Ireland. Where are Color Me Badd, East 17 and Caught in the Act? You've promised bad boy bands!
