The fact that people who do not have a clue about proper skin care are giving advice on TikTok is absolutely absurd and truly dangerous. I started using this exfoliator 6 months after a year and a half on accutane and my acne just started to flare up again. I started using it once a week, a very thin layer with some vaseline to buffer at more sensitive parts of my face and for only 5 minutes (after a month or so I upped to 7,5 and later to 10 minutes) and it honestly worked wonders for me! Evened out my skin tone and acne scars, smoother skin (it actually feels like skin again instead of some sort of moon landscape) and overall a better glow. When used carefully this is such a wonderful product♥️

I have stopped using most TO products now, having found others that do a better job for my skin, but this is one of the two I still use (Squalane being the other). I have only ever had a mishap once when I forgot to put a timer on and left it on for longer than 10 minutes, no more than 10 mins more. It burnt a patch of skin I got a really bad sunburn years ago and at least a year later there's still evidence of the damage. Still use it every couple of weeks and love it, but I am a lot more careful now!

I used to work at Ulta and basically BEGGED customers to do a patch test and read the directions when they bought this because so many people returned it after having terrible experiences due to leaving it on too long or using it too often. :S (Someone said their son used it every night and I was like noooo lol).

My doctor prescribed me Azelaic Acid for my acne and it gave me such a bad chemical burn that my whole face was beet red and peeling for over a week. I recovered by washing my face with ONLY water, and using the IMAGE Skincare balancing peptide cream along with the Ceramadin Ceremide cream.

I'm not sure if you already have found your answer somewhere or not. But after AHA+BHA, it is enough to just use TO hyaluronic acid & thin layer of occlusive moisturizer (Vanicream, Cerave)

I've got my hyperpigmentation well under control, and I'm hoping regular long-term use of this plus The Ordinary's retinoid emulsion will help with my textured scars. I've been doing the peel weekly for six weeks and the retinoid for 3-4 weeks. I expect it'll be months before I see any noticeable results, but I'm gonna wait and see.

I don’t have TikTok so idk about any of what’s on there but I can read a label and see people on KZfaq who actually know stuff about skincare. I only use my peel from the ordinary once every two weeks or so and never more than 10 minutes per use. Some people are able to do it every week but I’ve seen other reactions where people use it every day and don’t understand why it is drying or irritating their skin. So sad

Can you use your other products in your skin care routine afterwards?? Any helpful tips would be much appreciated!!

Skinfluencers should stop reacting to some of this "fail" videos. It's obvious that they do it for "clout" and someone with a large following showing the videos it's giving them what they want and they will keep making this "mistakes" on purpose for more clout. Edit: not all of them do it on purpose, but checking on some of the accounts it's obvious that they hurt their skin on purpose for the views

this product is not even available in Canada because the ingredients are not approved by the FDA to be sold here. I had to order it from the skinstore website and get it shipped here, it’s not available on sephora, in stores, anywhere, and the ordinary site doesn’t ship it here either. and there’s people out here using it like this like it’s some regular face mask you leave for 20 minutes and wipe away. absolutely not

I know I freaked myself out once using The Ordinary Squalene Cleanser... I had used it before and done a patch test with no problems, so I think it was a matter of over exfoliation because my makeup was being really stubborn so I also had washed my face with my regular facial cleanser (which has gentle exfoliation) and I used a toner and the pixi overnight serum. So I had some red bumping under my skin which I was able to soothe away in a a day or two with a little care... using only oil serums and a gentle moisturizer cream, no toning or exfoliation... and I used an ice roller when my face felt warm. Now I still use the Squalene Cleanser once or twice a week and my skin is fine, but I don't use it with everything all at once.

Im not an esthetician, but I struggled with that when I was growing up, too. As far as I’m concerned, Noxima and Clean & Clear are super harsh, and I don’t recommend them. I swear by the Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer. They don’t have fragrance, and they don’t foam up-so the cleanser won’t strip the skin and irritate it. I’d also stay away from popping pimples when they flare up, if you can-I got some deep, permanent scars from that early in life. Grocery stores usually carry hydrocolloid patches that can be cut down to size as an alternative to the more expensive “pimple patches.” I realize I’m a bit late to the party, but I hope this helps!
