Shout out to King Lycaon of Arcadia, who fed one of his own sons to Zeus at a feast to see if the god was truly all-knowing. I guess he got his answer when Zeus got so pissed, he turned Lycaon in a wolf to devour the remaining sons. Thus we get Lycanthropes, or werewolves.

Basically in the beginning there was this giant Ymir, whom the three brothers Odin, Vili and Vé killed. The three brothers dragged Ymir's lifeless body towards the center of Ginnungagap, this is the place where they created the world from the remains of Ymir. The blood became the oceans, rivers, and lakes. The flesh became the land.

In some versions of these myths the one who did the punishing was the eldest child of Nyx Nemesis the Goddess of Vengeance, and Retribution and her role was basically punishing the wicked humans who committed crimes some minor like Narcissus when he cause the nymph Echo to die from a broken heart in the literal sense, but mostly major ones with the two crimes that really guarantee a wicked human was getting a less-then pleasing visit from Nemesis were hubris, and breaking a oath. So yeah this so-called proto-goddess was one who was both respected and fear at the same time. And yes proto-goddess is technically the correct term as most myths have Nemesis being older then the main Olympians and older then most of the Titans.

Nice video. Another character who is punished is Phlegyas, son of Ares and King of Lapiths or Boeotia. He got enraged when he found out that Apollo seduced his daughter, he burned his temple. Due to this, Apollo killed him and Phlegyas was then punished in Tartarus "the hellish regions of the Underworld". According to Virgil's "Aeneid", Aeneas as he travels through the Underworld encounters Phlegyas being punished. His punishment is that he is bricked up into a wall and force to look at a table full of food.

So technically there would still be death in things like war, murder, suicide etc. Also random silly thought can you imagine how busy Atropos must be cutting threads during a thing like war? Lol. P. @@funkyfiss Jim butcher theorized that Demeter suffered from empty nest syndrome and let it be known that Hades stole her. I'm mean besides that, how many other shenanigans did the other gods get up to? Zeus turned into a bull and seduced a virgin. Thus, the minotour was born.

@@mikilegovindsamy9874 Oh the gods where always up to shenanigans and were just as flawed as people. No god was perfect. I suppose it was the greeks explaining why nature was sometimes cruel and unfair. That your actions don't go unpunished or rewarded.

@@mikilegovindsamy9874 only mortals get punished. Symbolically it was a way of keeping people humble. Like who do you think you are? A god? The gods did punish each other sometimes but noone could punish Zeus, that's why Hera took all her frustration and hate out on Zeus's lovers and children and never directed it towards him personally.

I'm shocked that Lycaon wasn't mentioned at all. Maybe I'm just a fan of wolves.

Everyone of those kings Deserves their punishments they were greedy, selfish humans had the audacity to try and challenge and out smart the gods. The one True innocent one was Prometheus he didn't deserve that fate.

I can get behind some of these for sure. Feeding people your kid is pretty high on the yikes teir, but some of these others kinda make me understand why Kratos did what he did in GOW. Damn, Artemis and Athena (depending on the version) don't mess around.

That Ahelios (guessing on the spelling) guy, honestly, pretty sweet deal. Punished by the most beautiful woman in the cosmos, got to see her show off how gorgeous she was, then get's turned into one of the most badass animals in nature? Fuck yeah, bro.
