i’ve worked for republic, and my God. i have dealt with the WORST customers in a life time. especially in summer, where all the maggots get all over the bags, the nasty smelly juice. i’m talking like trash being staked to the point where they couldn’t stack it anymore and put it to the side. some bags were so bad that if water got in it, it would make the can 10x heavier than it looks.

in my neck of the woods, we have a 3 pail limit per home, and that includes recycling items, which must be kept separate from trash. You can use one of your 3 pails if that's what it takes. You can also put your bag of garbage on top of loose recycle materials, as long as they don't mix.

I work at a local tip. Our garbos get all sorts of weird stuff. There is one guy who is on the Monday pick-up, he managed to accumulate multiple bins and back in the day the guys just picked them all up. We don't do that now since he isn't paying for 3 waste servies. The garbos will only ever pick one up and he will report a missed bin and someone has to go out and check to make sure there was a bin picked up. He is supposed to have 1 bin but he puts out 3. The other full bins we had no idea what he did with. We have no idea how this man who lives alone generates so much rubbish. The local bowling club called us to complain because since we will only pick up one bin from his one person household once a week, we don't know what to do. He is carting rubbish to their bins and filling them up. He is throwing out rotting food and cardboard, bits of glass, garden vegetation, bricks, car parts, books, all sorts of stuff. He is an old guy, hardly mobile, doesn't have a car and his place is immaculate from the outside. He won't tell us where the rubbish comes from but that it is our duty to get rid of it. He has tried to file law suits against the Council but he keeps getting shut down.

I'll admit I have some stops on my routes that are...more or less bulk stops and when you get past two toaters you know they have too much stuff they be throwing out, keep on trucking my dude and remeber to have fun crunching✌️

I’m surprised that you have to even touch the bags. In my country a gripping arm from the truck grabs the whole bin and empties it in the compressor. America needs to upgrade.

You're lucky because my boss doesn't care anymore it seems. And some of the disgusting vile putrid crap I've had to put my hands in or put my hands on because apparently no one in my city knows how to use fk'n garbage bags. I knew when I signed up to be a garbage man I was going to smell some foul stuff but holy crap have you ever smelled rotten chicken that's been sitting in 110° weather for a week? Even the maggots weren't touching that.

I feel you bro I’m a overnight trash man over here in Texas but nobody seems to care about 6 bag rule dude and sometimes they don’t even put there used nasty toilet paper, and all kinds of nasty stuff sadly nobody cares about what a trash man really goes through

If I gotta leave extra trash I'd like to try to give the guy a tip just for putting up with the inconvenience. Most the time otherwise I just take my own to the dump if I got a big load

Seeing this I hope that the guys taking my trash didn't get too pissed off when I was putting out like 5-8 boxes for 3 weeks because I had a shit ton of music equipment arrive.

In the U.K. they just refuse to take it. Some get pissy if your bin is open more than 2 inches.

In my city in Texas, our garbageman don’t even get out of the truck. We have a mechanical arm that picks up the bins and dumps them inside. What backwards Third World state do you live in😂

I drive a side loader grabbing anywhere from 600-1000 cans a day. There’s always those stops you know even before you get there “here we go, I wonder what kinda bs they got for me today” 😂

This just shows how petty people are. I'm talking about both trashmen and the tenants. Could not imagine being at a job and saying I'm going to do the bare minimum and not make extra hours installing extra board up that we don't need.😂🤦
