Oh man this game. I loved it so much as a kid, I played it all the time. Too bad I lost it at my cousins house.

Hey remember the sequel hook where Galactus was coming but then in the next game, it turned out he was defeated off screen? What a massive disappointment.

That’s one of the hypest cliffhangers ever. I was so bummed when he wasn’t in the sequel.

Weirdly not the first Spider-Man game where he can throw grenades. See Spider-Man (1995) on the SNES and Genesis.

God this version was just AWFUL in every way imaginable. I honestly don't understand why Activison didn't have Barking Lizards develop MUA 1 for the DS as it was already out 2 years by then, so MUA on GBA was obviously an INCREDIBLY late release on the system. They were definitely capable of delivering a good product on the DS as Barking Lizards developed X-Men Legends 1 and 2 for the N-gage (yes, the N-gage lol) and they were actually VERY solid versions. All they had to do was take what they did with Legends 2 and adapt it exactly the same way on DS and we would have gotten a very good version. MUA 2 on the DS by developer n-Space (Geist, Danger Girl) was at the very least decent and not too bad overall.

Absolutely agree with you man. Most adaptations for the GBA end up being a pretty standard beat em up. Which for the most part, end up being serviceable. But MUA was so terrible. The most annoying part was the janky hit detection. Definitely the worst game I’ve played for Pocket Heroes.

@@DiegoReviews It's one of the worst comic book games ever. Dude I have to say thank you for doing these. I'm a big fan of handheld and comic book games and people overlook their portable counterparts way too much. The irony is a lot of them are actually solid and in some cases are even better than the console version. Looking forward to more 👍

I'm late to your video, but I worked on this one. And yeah, all the terrible things you called out were decisions from the top and dictated by Activision. They wanted realism no matter how much we pushed back on them. In short, we almost no creative control and ended up churning out a turd

Thank you for commenting! That’s such a shame. Because I think a version of MUA where it’s more of a retro style beat-em-up would’ve worked so well for a handheld version.

Yeah, thank you for this video. Is Vision on this version? Every time I look at Google, it says Vision is a playable exclusive secret character for Gba. But no one on KZfaq or anywhere has footage of him

Your right you do face the Fantastic 4 before you face Doctor Doom in the console versions. However before you even leave stark tower to go to castle doom you have to face a shit load of fake Iron Man robots. Do you also have to do that in the gba version?. If not that evil Iron Man boss battle is a replacement for that.

I don’t expect the GBA version to be a one to one recreation of the console version. I like when GBA version of a console game is a different take. See Justice League Heroes: Flash.

I wasn't keen on the regular version, I can understand why people like it, but for me the story was a mess and dragged on and on, and I wasn't too happy with the character choices. Personally I preferred both X-Men Legends games and I would love to see a third or just a new X-Men game in general.
