The movie was written so that people who hadn't seen the show could still follow. The Well Manicured Man's explanation of Bill Mulder's motives was cut from the theatrical release. It was added back when it first came out on video. 24 years later and the hallway scene is still one of my favorite parts from the whole franchise. Mulder HAS to tell Scully how he feels about her. But what he doesn't get is that she's telling him how she feels about him. She would rather quit the FBI than be forced to move across the country; away from him. I could shake the both of them sometimes.

The woman questioning Skully and Mulder in the Hearing is Blyth Danner, the mother of Gwenyth Paltro, who stars in the Avengers Series as Pepper Potts. A fun Fact

This was the film that turned Me into an X-Files fan. I was dating a woman who watched it religiously, but I dismissed as a rehash of Kolchak the Night Stalker that I had watched as a teenager. This showed Me how intricate the plot. I went back & watched the older episodes & saw the brilliance. Been hooked since. Great Movie. Great review.

10:08-10:15 That guy knows how to go out with a bang. The alien conspiracy is like an onion. No matter how many layers you peel back, you find there is still so much more left to uncover. To try to get to the bottom of such a thing would drive most people insane. But Mulder and Scully are not like most people. Though they've had their breaks, the pursuit of the truth always draws them back in. 17:58-18:14 We're back, baby.

All it had to do is land. WW2 a p-38 lightings landed in Greenland. They salvaged the plane and by the time they did it was under 300 foot of ice. So it wasn’t buried, it merely sat and was covered by snow and ice. 300 foot of ice in 50 years.

Chris Carter was fed the finer details of The X-Files from the Military-Industrial-Entertainment complex; The opening act was 911 (think about it), second act with the bees is the poppi-fields and so much else since, and the whole alien thing in Antarctica is all about the Fourth Reich. Ever hear of Operation Highjump in 1946?

Right on! I find it fascinating how many epsisodes expose past history & also play into future real world events before they happened. Such a great series. There's a interview in which Dean Hagland, "Langly", claiming Chris Carter was fed story ideas by the CIA as you stated. I don't don't that. Don't doubt it for a few other series & movies as well. They tell us so much in what is marketed as alleged "fiction".

I think the movie had a budget about over 60 Million dollars, wich is crazy, when you think about a regular tv episode with maybe 1-3 million dollars budget back in the day. I mean they were able to get Armin Mueller Stahl as Conrad Strughold. Unfortunately they weren't able to pay him enough for the tv show, allthough it was planned to bring him back.

Although Conrad Stughold was never seen on the show, the only allusion to his involvement is glimpsed when Mulder and Scully break into the mine vaults in West Virginia. There is a sign on a gate that says Strughold Mines.

There was a VERY VAGUE "plan", or idea, to have the show end after 5 years, and continue with a series of movies. At least that's what Chris Carter wanted while the show was at its peak of popularity. Thing is, the show was too big for the FOX network to let go, so the show, and everyone's contracts, were renewed to go to at least 7 seasons. Which actually worked well for them, from a business standpoint (certainly not from a creative one, imo, since the decline in quality starts to become apparent with season 6). The movie proved to be a little bit of a disappointment, failing to perform at the box office as they had hoped, and while the tv series was also starting to lose steam, it was still FOX's highest rated drama for a while. So, yes, the movie was done knowing there'd be more tv episodes after it.

well, no, "them" being older than us in the planet wouldnt make us the aliens, the definition of alien is that it comes from somewhere else, unless something brought us here, we're as much alien as the ones before us.

Nice comment. I was wondering if you have heard of Dr Jane Ruby before? She is a Medical practitioner with 20 years of experience. You’d be surprised to find out what has happened over the last 2 years. Unfortunately, human 🧬 has been altered via mrña Génè Theràpÿ used in these last two years. It’s heartbreaking and depressing to live with this knowledge

Being the "original inhabitants" doesn't necessarily mean they started here... One interesting "theory" is life could have started here by aliens dumping their (biological) garbage on this planet while exploring - or maybe deliberately seeding life even... That life would still be the "original inhabitants" even though the aliens visited and left it here.

They made more X-Files movies, but I wouldn't recommend any of them. This one is great, though.
