This deal is so big that if the UK's CMA were the only market to reject the deal, that Microsoft would seriously consider pulling GamePass from the UK.

At this point I'm sure everyone can see what the CMA is doing and where they stand. I'm pretty sure either MS has their court case ready or has a contingency in place already. This is all pretty farcical too considering the Silent Hill and FF 16 exclusive deals.

I'm pretty sure MS can cancel that part of the marketing deal and honor the rest of the marketing deal if they are not forced into a concession.

There really needs to be a response from the FTC and US Department of Commerce on this to the CMA. It's supposed to be about consumer protection, not the protection of Sony.

you know what would be hilarious? If Xbox didn't release a new COD until the PS deal timeline ends, citing that they are reducing the release schedule to ensure the quality of the game. And then they release the most epic cod ever 🤣

I don't care for Sony nor CMA at all. I'm very satisfied with Xbox Series X and upcoming new-gen games very soon. Sony lost me as a disabled customer forever and since my account got banned for a hacker with unauthorized chargebacks twice and they didn't want to restore my account until I was told to pay them $70. So I said screw that and hop on the Xbox side. In hindsight, I never knew that Xbox was great for me.

If I'm Xbox I'm getting some of these studios new titles that play like COD put is called idk Tales of War or something new to allow something like COD to be on gamepass.

Xbox playing nice is going to end up hurting them imo. If I was Xbox I would rip up that contract when the deal goes through and pay the fine. Every other month we get another timed exclusive announced for PlayStation while Xbox sit and does nothing. While an old franchise Silent Hill is a name that has weight in that genre and as always Xbox miss out. They can't keep playing the nice guy... It will be their downfall imo.

Sony preventing (highly) anticipated singleplayers coming to Xbox and/or GP by itself isnt new, though I do think it is becoming a serious problem. To my opinion Xbox is hardly succeeding in securing new and (highly) anticipated "double & triple A" single player games. I really dont want to buy a PS5 (I despise PS censor policies), but whether its through (timed) exclusivity or markteting deals; PS does know which games to target.

Once Avowed ships, Obsidian will be working on The Outer Worlds 2, I hope. Again, Bethesda's solution to the 10-year wait for another Fallout is called Fallout 76. They are releasing new content every year, and it has a healthy 13 million player count (Fallout 4 sold 15 million, for reference). So, there's no point for them to work on another Fallout game while 76 is alive and well. Indeed, one could argue The Elder Scrolls 6 is not needed while ESO keeps releasing four DLCs a year and keeps their 23 million player count. Might as well just start working on Starfield 2.

The irony of Sony boasting about SH2 remake exclusivity at the same time as lobbying the CMA about how awful it would be for the position at the top of the gaming market if Microsoft were allowed control AVB and especially CoD is beyond parody. There are some serious flaws in the CMA's "logic" around their public utterings so far (on one hand they seem to want to protect Sony's position as the leading traditional marketplace for games at the same time as being wary of Microsoft's successful innovation with GamePass and afraid that if they're allowed add CoD to it that it'll attain an "uncatchable" position in the games subscription marketplace, an oddly hypocritical position) and there aren't any British gaming services/consoles competing for the space that they may have a statutory responsibility to protect either . But I do think the missing piece of this jigsaw for people is that Sony Europe still have their HQ and financial sections in Britain, unlike Microsoft who have their HQ between Germany and Ireland, and as such they are closer to the regulator. With Britain in such dire straits economically and with Sony having already threatened to leave the UK following Brexit, my impression is that some hard lobbying and maybe even threats has gone into persuading the CMA to adopt this position. Since Brexit the UK is a bit of a rogue state as regards regulation, so it could get messy

Sony can put Deathloop in PS plus cause its a lowly selling game, they wouldnt have done it if it was a day one release on both systems, only MS has showed the prowess to do that. If MS is able to put MLB the Show on GP, then MS can put COD on GP day one. Its all up the publisher and what side of the numbers the investors wanna focus on, sales or subscriber numbers.

Xbox could potentially bypass the gamepass block by offering a gamepass ultimate subscriber discount. Selling CoD at 15 bucks for a Gamepass Ultimate subscriber would be almost as good. IDK. we don't know what the contract says, but it would still be a huge draw to gamepass without putting it on gamepass.
