In this episode of "Trumpet with Bob," @bobbyspellman takes inspiration from the grisly practices of Japan's most infamous criminal syndicate to improve finger strength and dexterity on trumpet.
The Ridgewood School of Music is now accepting new students online or in Brooklyn/Queens/NYC! ridgewoodschoolofmusic.com

I discovered years ago in school that I could play that way almost as well with those 3 fingers as the standard ones. MY brain just switched and made it work. It's kind of fun, never really considered it as an exercise

But the Yakuza tradition is to cut off the pinkie anyhow. So you can continue to play the Shakuhachi bamboo flute and go begging for food. Which instrument also requires no pinkie. And JUST HAPPENS to be based on the blues scale. Some say... The japanese invented cool jazz. Which is why Chet baker's greatest album was... wait for it... Chet Baker Live in Tokyo

That is a Martin Committee model trumpet a vintage trumpet notorious with qualities favoring jazz. Most Jazz trumpeters in the 50s were playing on Committees. It is still very popular today and commands high resell prices.

I doubt this. I’m afraid my subconscious brain will get used to it 😅

Why not just use the third finger instead of the first and second fingers in fast chromatic scales. I do this all the time. Yes, the third fingering is noticeably flat in the E s and As ect. But in fast passages, it hardly matters.
