Written for the soldiers returning from Vietnam. The public was so divided the soldiers were actually spat upon in some places. What an homage!

You can't go wrong with the first seven Yes studio albums (1969-1974): Yes (1969), Time And A Word (1970), The Yes Album (1971), Fragile (1971), Close To The Edge (1972), Tales From Topographic Oceans (1973) & Relayer (1974). The Yes Album is a good place to start, then probably do it chronologically to get a sense of the musical development rather than to deep dive in with some of the more 'out there' but hugely rewarding (after a few listens) albums like Topographic Oceans or Relayer. You might also add the eighth studio album Going For The One (1977) too. After The Yes Album I would go with the album that followed it, Fragile for the next step. All the best to you & cheers from Scotland👍

Thanks for including the first two albums. So underrated ❤

Not their first album (3rd) but it was the 1st of their Uber Classic Period (albums 3, 4, & 5) during which at least 7 of their all-time masterpieces were recorded. There was more that followed, but during this period it was pristine output.

I agree. This album, then Fragile and finally Close to the Edge are them at the top of their creative game. Yessongs is a great live synopsis of these 3 albums. I agreed with Rick Wakeman about Tales From Topographical Oceans being too much. I also bought Yesterdays (a compilation of songs from the same golden era). After Relayer I was done buying their records

Their breakthrough and still such a great album. Every one of these songs is a gem of writing, vocals, groove and great musicianship!

Steve howe plays concerts with a guitar wrangler to hand him the instrument needed, depending on the song he's playing.

Best...band...EVER. Let's go. The album Fragile is their next album. It's great. But I consider the album after Fragile, Close to the Edge is easily my favorite. Thanks for the reaction!!

This is the 3rd album and first with this guitarist. Hey, sometimes fade outs are perfectly appropriate. YES were geniuses at overlapping polyrythmic grooves and of unpredictable perfect changes.

Feeling old, I remember my older brother playing this when it came out. I was ten. I finally managed to to see them live six years later in London. Hooked for life.

Possibly, probably my favorite album ever. Listening to it all at once is correct. You made an old Yeshead who has banged away at this one for 50+ years extremely happy. This is how reaction videos are done.

I have seen Yes perform live many times from 1976-2011 many different line ups my favorite is the classic Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman and Alan White. Chris and Alan RIP you are missed

I’ve only just got around to this. It’s rare that I listen to a whole album. This made me weep with joy as always. And you have yet to do Awaken or Gates of Delirium ❤❤

One of the greatest albums ever produced by the greatest band there ever was or will ever be!🤩Just so you know that was their 3rd album but it was the one that rocketed them to stardom. You might as well do 'Fragile' next, it will blow you away like this one and 'Close to the Edge' does.

OK, it's confusing because their first album was just titled 'Yes'. This one, their third album, is titled 'The Yes Album" . Unnecessary to confuse us that way, but they did! Great music nonetheless.

For me, there are just 5 essential Yes albums. You did 2, the others are Fragile, -- RELAYER -- and Going for the One. Outside of those you could maybe do Tales From Topographic Oceans, but this one is really for hardcore fans - it's pretty experimental, and for me, too drawn out. It should have been condensed down to half its overall length -- I know some would disagree. Drama would have been an amazing album but it suffers from Jon Anderson's absence.
