A transportable cannon developed by Yashima Heavy Industries as a long-range weapon for use in 1G environment. Its design is thought to have referenced the Zimmad Corporation’s ZIM/M-T-K175C Magella Top Cannon. It uses a six-rounds box magazine that is inserted into the top. The most notable feature of this weapon is that it can be broken down into compact components for transport in the weapon container carried by the mobile suit.

I love using this thing while piloting the Pale Rider Ground Type in Gundam Battle Operation 2. The sound it makes is punchy and strong, and when it hits, it's so satisfying. ❤

This is what i like from the 8th MS TEAM and the IBO series, there were no wizard gundam, no laser (technically some), just pure bullet and metal go cling and clang.

In the old old game, Federation vs Zeon... and even Gundam vs Zeta Gundam, this was my choice weapon when i run the RX79. The cannon is surprisingly accurate in both long AND melee range... although you need a bit of effort when firing in close range (i.e if youre in mid air... if youre not in midair, the animation is slow enough for your target to dodge... but midair, the animation is drastically reduced. Also, in midair, the shot fires straight in an angle as opposed to on the ground where the shots are lobbed)

You could also enter a crouched position with it or any other cannon weapon, like the Zaku's Magella or the Guncannon's cannons, it massively increased your rate of fire and let you shoot at enemies from behind terrain like a mortar (somehow)

Bro ran out of MS appearances to compile, so he went after the weapons next. Next thing you know, he's doing engines. Then ammo types. Every instance of the same ammo in the same video might sound useless to most, but it's good reference for other people's research.

Gun cannon has short barrel cannon although large , is a munition thrower, probably High explosive shell. However the 180mm is a rifle cannon . The bullet inside the long barrel accelerate fast as it leaves it. Giving it a higher speed and penetration. Shock wave causes more damage.

They used the remastered/updated versions of the audio for the first section, and when they got to the special episode at the end, it had the old effects that I love too for the end section like you

That does NOT look like a 180mm cannon. It's more like a 600mm cannon. The barrel diameter is huge. It's like firing Sturmtiger rounds or even Schwerer Gustav shells from World War 2.

honestly I wouldn't think too much about any barrel diameters in Gundam, they're pretty inconsistent, the scene where Shiro manages to dodge rounds from the Zaku machine gun always comes to mind, the thing is clearly huge compared to his body, but the Zaku machine gun is only supposed to be 120mm, the size of a modern tank cannon (which is big, but not THAT big)

Sturmtiger rounds were 380mm. And they were rockets, not shells. The Gustav was 800mm. That is anything but 600m. 180mm is likely. Remember MS are still tiny compared to warships, which use 6 in (183mm) diameter bore cannons very commonly. The Kv2 and Fv4005 used 183mm cannons, similar to the gun used in this clip.

Most head vulcans use caseless ammunition but Nu Gundam very specifically doesn’t and has an ejection port for spent cases

How is EZ-8 undamaged from a direct hit from an 180mm shell? Even Amuro's RX-78 Gundam got damaged by a direct hit.

Could be the EZ-8 was mounted with additional reactive armor (that wasn't incorporated in the visuals but was common with Fed ground MS ie: GM Striker) on top of its Luna Titanium. With the reactive armor greatly reducing the force of impact from the cannon shot, the Luna Titanium should be able to take the rest of the hit without much issue.

The rework ez8 has much more frontal armour added . If you built the HG model , you could see the whole forward section of armour at chest area.

At least in 08th MS Team, there are no Newtypes involved. Compared to Thunderbolt manga which is disappointing.

The thing is however, Newtypes have always been there since the original Gundam series, and even the "realistic" Gundam series at least had references to them. War in the Pocket's main Gundam, the Alex, was meant to be for Amuro. Haman Karn shows up in a small cameo in Stardust Memory. The epilogue short film of 08th MS Team has Shiro and Aina protected by kids who were experimented in the Flanagan Institute. And the Flanagan Institute was briefly mentioned in MS Igloo, heck, Char shows up in his Zaku in the first episode during the Battle of Loum. It's hard to avoid newtypes when Tomino himself was responsible for them in the first place, because newtypes are a metaphor for the next generation, the ones who are more empathetic and understanding. Newtypes are a staple in Gundam, and are a metaphor for the franchise's antiwar ideology. If you don't like newtypes, it's hard to avoid them in this franchise, so you're better off watching another real robot story like Patlabor.
