A timeless classic, there was nothing like it before, or since. Would it work today ? im not sure, the pure genius of Rik Mayall, and brilliance of Nigel Planer, just worked perfectly. Doing a rerun, with different actors simply would not work.

I'm not sure it is timeless although certainly a classic. I loved it when it was on, the best thing ever but to me it's now very dated unlike some other comedies such as Fawlty Towers, Dad's Army and The Good Life

It was definitely of its time and Bottom came close to delivering the same anarchic, slapstick, but I do agree that there was nothing quite like the young ones.

It was great when it came out. It was completely off the grid to the usual stuff. Watching it now is not as good for me but still enjoyable. but is it cos it was or is so ridiculous (not necessarily in a bad way) or is it cos its a memory from a better time than today.

Comedy left British tv in the last decade it's hard to find humour in Tv, film or stage now. Apart from stand up live comedy it's just a terrible time for the comedians. It's all fabricated reality, crappy contests, bad news and awful late shows.
