The ZT 0562 was actually my gateway into the folding knife world too, and because of you. That was 2.5 years ago and now I have Hinderer, SBD, Chaves, Reate, Hog House (Veli, which I returned), CKF, Shirogorov, and now custom knives like NCC, Jason Clark, and Melvin Lozada in my growing collection. And just yesterday I picked up my brand new ZT 0606, which I wanted ever since I laid eyes on it but came to think I would never get one. I even got scammed for one on blade forum last year. But Arizona Custom Knives has gotten in four 0606CF's in the last couple weeks, 3 of which were brand new, and 1 in excellent condition still for sale. Listed at $995, I know it's a lot but if you're truly in love with this hobby as I am, we're willing to stretch the spending budget a bit for certain knives. Most people will never understand it, and what a Shiro tier knife feels like in hand. So, thank you MC for this passion I cherish so much!

Right there with you. ZT was my gateway as well and the last few years have just been weird. So glad they appear to be headed back to their roots of the "overbuilt" knife. The "grail" for me was the 0850. I don't mind holes, but they, and Kershaw were experimenting with many, weirdly shaped, (for my taste) holes that I just couldn't get into. With 2 kids in college, heading into the $400's is out of my price range but I too like that knife.

Unpopular opinion: I _love_ the 0707. I think it's ZT's best knife followed by the 0470, and the 0990. Those knives, which it seems everyone hates, are what got me into collecting pocket knives. And if they ever make an 0707 with a mirror polish ZDP-189 blade, and maybe some blue Ti highlights, I will throw ALL my money at them. Never gonna happen, but a girl can dream.

I will end up with one but that price is still holding me back..a bit. Been a fan of ZT for a long time and still love the 350TS ( have two) and the 770 series to a lesser extent. Thanks for the review and certainly understand what you are saying!

ZT was on to a real winner making Emerson designs with proper materials and F&F. If they'd carried on with that, they would have gotten a bunch more of my money.

This is one of your best videos lol I feel the same way about this knife… I like it and want it but it’s a $250 knife pretending to be $400. Not willing to drop $400 on it. I feel like this is kinda the trend now… I been giving Benchmade a hard time for price gouging but now the Spyderco Shaman is $270, this ZT is over $400… Medford is pushing $1k for S35… knife world is wild right now.

I do find it interesting that the finish on the Ti side is not seemingly the same as the OG 0562 release. This seems more working finish level, not just stonewash. Love the nostalgia and I have always been a 0562cf loyalist. It’s like the old Chevy commercials. Built like a rock and always go back to it lol.

You hit on a few good points, the biggest OG ZT consumer/collector complaint is their decidedly all out ban on collabs. Hinderer, Les George, Sinkevich, Rexford collabs is what put them on the map because that's what the OG's wanted and were willing to pay for. Because collabs cost money, they've decided that Johnny Lunchbuket in the back room is great at in house designs and his rate of pay is cheap by comparison. The ONLY in house design I own is the the true OG 0999... Jim McNair knocked that one out of the park. The other conscience decision that they have made is to ignore the OG's who are still willing to pay for designs other than of Johhny Lunchbucket... we put them on the map and apparently some Kool Aid drinker is making decisions these days at ZT and probably also drives an EV... sad...

I think the knife is very nice and your review is spot on. In point it appeals more towards fans. I collect and don’t have many ZT’s. The company should leave room in there prices to grow the fan base for knives like these.

Now put some skiffs bearings in it, and enjoy :) I'm waiting for a Scandinavian shop to get it in so I can pick it up. Really love how they textured the CF, compared to the smooth cf scales they used to do on other models.

Well ZT pretty much disappeared. They don’t even gave more than a handful of models available. The last one i found interesting and bought was the 0470 (now discontinued) and pretty much since they went totally silent.

They did do a couple tiger stripe versions. I THINK they are dealer exclusives with Northern Knives, but I might be wrong. Cool ass knife though.

I don't like the hole, because even though my brain tells me the pivot is locked in and isn't going to move, it still looks like the pivot is going to slide back an inch. I mean I generally don't like holes in knife scales at all, but I super don't like that hole. Still, I'm kind of glad its there, because if it wasn't, that overpriced knife would be almost irresistible to me. So it's kind of a community service that it's there.

I see this comparable to the BM S90 Freek. Both are big CF folders with premium steel. But the BM is $100 less. No brainer.

Mmmm. ZT, "Built Like a Tank" on the box. Said knife is assembled with 2-56 fasteners screwed into the standoffs. At least they were shouldered if memory serves...

What is the difference between Chris Reeves charging $500 for a knife and ZT charging $420? I know the difference is $80 but I mean why can one demand that price and then another premium company it is considered too much?

This knife is beautiful, just a shame zt really priced themselves put of the market. I never thought Benchmade would seem like a good option but prices compaired and models Benchmade definitely seems better. I wish they wpuld be reasonable with prices again, but im fine stivking with Spyderco and Hogue.

Really? Why though exactly? I mean the Narrows, which is arguably Benchmades only model that would compete with this ZT model because it happens to be titanium and M390, is literally over $520 with the DLC version coming in at $600. And it has no where near the precision mill work as well as overall design execution as this thing does and this ZT is still over $100 cheaper. I'm not sitting here and justifying the price tag on either one; they're both expensive and really are catering to a small section of our niche in the knife hobby, but I still feel this ZT is way more less of a kick to the balls than the Benchmade Narrows or even the new release Benchmade Seven Ten is currently.

@@wes.killed.it.5511 that's true the narrows is more expensive and I'd say looks worse but Benchmade just has more knives for better prices. Plus they do some experimentation with steels, zt just keeps doing titanium, g10 and 20 cv. Would be cool to see a tool steel l, something we can really abuse. That and zt releases like one knife every year or two, and most of the time they're just different variants of the same models. Both have horrendous prices, but I do like zt's style over benvhmades. Zt's do look really nice, and like you said they do the extra work to make a great product. Hopefully one day they can go back to sub $300 prices

@@_formallyhappy yeah agreed, unfortunately though I think the days of sub $300 ZT are over lol And yes I would love to see them experiment with some tool steels too; having an M4 or Cruwear variant of several of their models would be stupid good. I think unfortunately they fear any of the knives rusting after leaving the factory so they keep on the safe side and just utilize the 20CV, which I don’t mind because it’s a quality steel when heat treated properly, but it’s more so just boring now a days.

Dude. I just lost my 0562CF that I carried every day for 10 years. It was lost in the post office somewhere, on its way back from service in KAI. It also had an even older 0770CF in that package. Painful. In these videos about the 0308CF you keep mentioning that one and it's just about to make me buy this new expensive one. Danger zone.
