im 22 years old so i never saw this on release, but i can tell you its timeless because it STILL contends with modern music today, if you listened to it you almost wouldn’t notice a difference! I remember watching this on a Saturday morning as a 10 or 11 year old kid. I thought it was a great song, but I thought it would never go beyond that particular Archies episode. I was so glad that song took off in popularity, became the Billboard Hot 100 Number one song for 1969, and in fact is such an iconic song even today in 2022.

I am a late 50s years old man. I was in a gym doing a late-night workout one time, there were about 12 other late 50s year old men there trying to get in shape. This song played on the big screen. Everyone stopped their working out and just stared at the screen. Fantastic song, still stops all the boys from back in the day.

Ron Dante lead vocal, written by Andy Kim, heard it EVERYWHERE in 1969. Later in 1981 the group Starzon did a impersonation that was medleyed with Beatles songs and that hit the charts big then. So it got a 2nd chart life.
