Thanks for the encouragement, Tony. I’m my own worst critic when I sit down to learn something and expect to be able to play it at full speed after 3 rounds of trying it. Not realistic.

Awesome tips - thank you so much. A valuable tip I got from one of my tutors for any beginner was to make my guitar my "happy place". When I sat down to play and nothing suddenly "worked" , instead of getting frustrated, I put the guitar down, came back later until it "felt" better / worked better. Bottom line: never to get angry or frustrated being with you instrument - hope you get the idea . . . This worked for me . . .

I totally get it!! I always try to pick a song I like with a few chords I know and a few I am trying to learn. Break it down section by section to learn it and practice it and then try to put it all together. Sometimes it goes quick and sometimes it goes slow. But don’t give up!! Keep plugging away and you will get it!!

My "lightbulb moment" was when you said while rehearsing "don't stop". Since I don't play out, I never rehearse. As a result I'm essentially practicing my mistakes. As soon as I miss a note, I stop and go back and fix it to the point where the mistakes start to get burned into my brain, and I consistenty make the same mistakes every time. I'm going to add rehearsal time to my practice schedule. If that helps me play fluidly without pausing that might give me the guts to go out to an open mic. Thank you for this video Tony.

I’m in a bit of a “guitar rut” at the present time and feel my progress is slower than normal. Was working on fingerpicking Blackbird and just got so frustrated with myself that I just went back to what I was halfway good at. Then I start shopping for different guitars thinking that will be my “magic bullet”.

I tend to do a practice routine an hour a day! I love fingerpicking so I’ve added a couple of techniques to work on and that’s Flatpicking and Hybrid-picking!

Miheer, That is a good question and the answer, "not nearly enough" definitely holds true but in reality I'm super happy with my current guitarsenal :-) I won't list them all here, but plan on detailing them in the Acoustic Tuesday show throughout the year. :-)

I go further and fill in an exhaustive risk assessment which takes several hours. I simply don't have time to play thesedays and thats a good thing too - its potentially so dangerous.
