Favorite Picker's Mall! | Shop with Me | Antique Pavilion | Vintage Reseller
Come with me as we search the catacombs of one of my favorite antique malls to pick! I often spend hundreds in a single visit to Aurora Antique Pavilion, a jumbled paradise of vintage goods in a giant space above a suburban strip mall. A lot of good deals on great old stuff turn up in this place, let's see what we find during our unexpected quick stop today!
This shopping trip is absolutely spontaneous, an hour opened up between appraisal appointments so it's a chance to find a few choice pieces (and one "Smiley Face" imposter!) as we buy for Summer antique shows. We discover bargains on signed costume jewelry, a deal on a plate from Seattle's first world's fair (1909!), a terrific 1970s metal wall art piece perfect for the Northwest and other fun finds (even a Treasure Craft Hawaiian set!).
There's lots of good dealers and interesting specialties here too...solid wood English furniture, a huge assortment of Hall teapots, 1950s toys, a Blenko pitcher whose signature tells its age and a spaces with everything from video games and concert shirts to really nice Rookwood Pottery make this a fun tour of a lot of different collectible interests. From MCM modernism to regal Victorian design, this mall makes it easy to buy and flip for a profit, if you know where to look!
Here's some of the vintage goodies we encounter as we shop for resale in this picker's paradise:
Luster rooster covered bowl, Clam Broth boiling pot, Blendo chip/dip, English art deco bird cage, 1950s comic chef's apron, Bauer Ring cookie jar, carnival chalkware ship, 1950s vintage fashion and hats, Fenton blue crest, Imperial blue slag pedestal bowl/lid, mortar and pestle sets, 1950s spaghetti poodles, Beswick boxer, Lomonosov terrier, Vancouver Whitecaps (NASL) pennant, gold Italian bird figure, Franz porcelain vase, 1940s nude chalkware figure/dish, Renoir cuff, Winfield China dinnerware, Viking Epic long-necked bird, Italian blue bird figure, Denby Pink Gypsy dinnerware, Hawaiiana, Northern Pacific Railway bag, art deco blue glass mirror, 1930s shake machines, Seattle Totems program, Japanese 1890s cast iron scale, Craftsman surveying transit, soil testing kit, oak side-by-side cabinet, Pepsi neon 1960s sign, western pillowcase, Cambridge Flying Lady compote, G-plan/English modernist furniture, Royal Haeger 1970s vase, Melville screenpainted plaque, washstand with pitcher/bowl, wardrobes, Fenton Jade Green, 1994 Mac computer, 1966 Lincoln promo car, 1930s Mickey Mouse pop-up, Frederick & Nelson store ephemera and china, concert shirts, steamer trunk, 1970s-80s celebrity dolls, Philco Predicta tv, bubble-top Electrophone stereo system, 1962 Seattle Worlds Fair placard, Franciscan Oasis, Ring 1930s shot glass set, Lucite modernist shell lighter/ashtray set, English bar, 19th century European painted chest, pickled bamboo shelves, Quezal shades, 1930s pull toy, Marblehead pottery vase, Saturday Evening Girls bowl, N. Dakota School of Mines vase, mesh bags, art nouveau brass jeweled lamp, etc.

You made me laugh with your Ken & Allan suspicions 😂 … I wasn’t a Barbie girl (more a Raggedy Ann and matchbox cars in the sandbox girl) … so I looked up Allan because I’d never heard of him. I found an article that points to the trademarks on his box that, from a distance, looked like quotation marks around the word [Ken’s] “Buddy.” Love it and I love your quick wit and dry sense of humor.

Good evening, George! That hanging birdcage was a nice one. I had an antique one until a few months ago and sold it. It had a maple leaf pattern, cast iron base, and the cage matched the base. It was an aged burnt orange...maybe used to have been more red...colour. I spotted an old galvanised watering can there that I could use. Nice oak ice box there, too. That oak side-by-side was really nice. I've always liked those. Looked like a Slinky there...that brought back memories. Loved that wash basin and pitcher. That crack in the pitcher wasn't good, though. That old steamer trunk was fantastic. I tend to really like the English furniture. It seems to have a more refined look to it. Love the antique bamboo furniture! I had an antique bamboo corner chair...some time ago but sold it. That's a super-nice pavilion! Thanks for the take-along!!!
@TheAntiqueNomad
@TheAntiqueNomad 2 жыл бұрын
I love the birdcages, I bet the maple leaf pattern is cool! I've never seen that to my knowledge. I never could make Slinky work right! The steamer trunk and the English furniture both appeal to me a lot, I worked with a lot of English furniture the first 10 years of my career. I would have a house (or apartment) full of bamboo shelving if I had my way! Thanks for coming along again

@@TheAntiqueNomad If I'd had room to keep it, I'd have never sold the birdcage I had. The cage was brass with the same colour as the stand for its trim. I'd love to have all kinds of the Victorian bamboo furniture. If I'd had room to use it, I'd have never sold the corner chair I had. I really like the patina it gets when it ages.

Fredrick & Nelson’s looks exactly like Marshall Fields. Is there a story there? I believe Marshall Fields sold Franco chocolates.
@marileestreasuretrove
@marileestreasuretrove 2 жыл бұрын
Fredrick, &Nelson was originally part of Marshall Fields until sometime in the 1980's when it was sold to a private party who ran it until it went into bankruptcy in late 90's (my dates are approximate). At that point Nordstrom took over the F&N Seattle downtown store site and remains there today. I am a retail child, as my Mother worked at that downtown F&N store in the fur department in the 50"s and 60''s. Macy's now sells Frango Mints, but they were actually developed by F&N, and a special part of our family's Christmas. celebration. This Anique Nomad episode makes me feel so nostalgic. Lots of good memories.
