@@yobee1418 just being honest. The first Avengers movie came out in 2012. Merlin passed away in 02 at the young age of 26. By 2012, he would have been damn near 40. Also, he never had any good movie roles due to the lack of range in his acting. The Steve Harvey Show is what he is known for, and sitcom actors are not known for being elite on the big screen. Some are decent, but most don't make it. Look at the Steve Harvey Show cast. No one made it big as far as movies. Santana got his money for what he did, but he wouldn't have been a good fit for Marvel. By the time Michael B. Jordan was 26, and he had all kinds of accolades. The same goes for Jonathan Majors, Leonardo Dicaprio, and countless others. He was taking over Hollywood at all.

Moesha is one of the defining roles of his career and it didn't take anything away from Onyx. Sometimes people around you can make you second guess things and miss opportunities. But as we all get older, very few people even care about that stuff; including the people who were trying to talk you out of it. And you might not even be connected with them like that as time goes on. So as long as you aren't hurting anyone or shaming yourself or your loved ones, always follow your dreams for your life.

I'm still hurt about Merlin. We became close as I was helping him with his music. He became like my annoying little brother, lol. He called me for 4 days straight and I was busy then he got murdered and I saw on the news. I listened to his left messages for weeks afterwards. Still hurts.....Rest Well Young Brother. Wheeew

Merlin used to come to this after-hours spot like a few blocks from where he got killed at that was ran from 1 of my big homies and he told me that he frequent that spot like 2, 3 times a month which is in a blood neighborhood. He said merlin didn't start no trouble but always got mad faded there smoking and drinking

True story of his murder: Monique King is the woman that falsely accused Merlin of sexual assault. She lied about her age and was hanging out with older people so Merlin assumed she was of age. They had relations and the next time they ran into each other, he didn’t really speak to her that made her mad. In her mind, she felt he should not have dismissed her. On top of that, Merlin was going through a lot after the Steve Harvey Show ended and he felt like it was a dark moment in his life, which is how he got acquainted with her. She got her boyfriend, which was a 27+ old man and his friend and they were in their car watching and waiting for Merlin and his friend, Brandon Q. Adams (“The People Under The Stairs”) to leave the party. They got in the car and the guys started shooting at their car, one of the guns had a laser on it, the bullet hit the trunk of the car and went through the seat to end up hitting Merlin in the back of the head. Brandon drove off to the hospital but Merlin was already gone. The girl got sentenced to juvenile detention and the two guys got life in prison. She’s out now and basically doesn’t take accountability or acknowledge her role in his murder. She’s on social media somewhere and I think she should have gotten life as well. It was messed up. How I know this? There’s a tv show that premiered on ID Discovery basically several years ago where they interviewed his mom and other relatives. It’s called “Final Cut”. The guy who played his best friend on the Steve Harvey Show also stated on one of his own interviews that Merlin’s death affected him a lot and he’s not in the industry anymore as far as I can recall. It’s so sad and I feel she should still be in prison, that was senseless.

He was the archetype for young black male actors, that carried out into the 2000’s & to this day! That young heartthrob who had good looks, physique, was artsy in music and theater, had some hood traits but also a crossover appeal. If you look at all the black tv shows or films in the 70’s, 80’s, early 90’s - they never had actors they were cutting edge like Merlin or Tupac. The Cosbys, Family Matters, etc. Specifically the archetype of the bad boy who’s a boyfriend or the attractive & yet dangerous relative with a heart of gold. Those roles are good for a young black actor cause it highlights their traits as potential stars in Hollywood.

Sorry for the long message and hope my grammar was good. But yeah he was the Michael B Jordan Prototype. Had he won the role in Leonardo DiCaprios Romeo & Juliet, he would’ve been a much bigger star, but I’m glad he didn’t cause the character wears a dress & make up.

Fun fact: When he spoke about the cars on 125th street in Harlem next to the Apollo... He was referring to"Grants tomb, NYC."...every week, I believe it was a Thursday night, randoms would come out to flash their cars. I was a teen then, doing tricks on pedal bikes .but cops would try and knock us off or tug at bike handles when we rode in the streets..I guess due to how crowded the area was on those nights. Legendary nights though ..

It’s crazy to think that Merlin would be 48 years old if he was still alive. Everybody I grew up on is either in their late 40s or in their 50s but in my mind I still look at them as if they r in their 20s, early 30s. Time is flying by so fast. I remember watching Fast & Furious in theaters back in 09, I was about to be 21 in a few months. Laz Alonso was 35 years old when he played Fenix Calderon, bro is about to be 50 on March 25th smh crazy. It seems like yesterday when that movie came out.
