This video is the second and final part for all the new airbrush artists who want to learn the basics in portrait painting. It's a simple painting, more like a sketch rather than a complete portrait but within this lesson I'll go over all the fundamentals and information you need to complete your first portrait. In this video we are painting in the hair, the ear, the nose and mouth. To simplify everything we will be using one color and I'll walk you through the entire process.

I am so glad that I came across your channel. I bought 2 expensive Iwata airbrushes because I thought, the better the airbrush, the easier it will be to learn. I bought 5 books on airbrushing and watched many KZfaq videos but after I did 5 pieces with the airbrush that I wasn't very pleased with went back to graphite pencils. Watching your tutorials I'm getting my airbrushes and paint out again!!! Thank you so much!! You explain every thing so much in detail that makes it easy to follow!

Just want to say a huge thank you for these videos, really! I’m a beginner with airbrushing. Do you use opaque colours or use transparent for everything? Thanks again 💪🏻
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Glad you're finding them helpful. I do use opaques, although not as often as I used to. For portraits and flesh tones, I use only transparent colors. Opaques are useful for solid colors in backgrounds or objects. I have a video coming up soon all about this topic so stay posted!

Wow thank you for that amazing tutorial its what i have been waiting for, i so want to do portrait work and i find its been really daunting at times but this is such a great tutorial, please do more of them. I just ordered my Iwata Microm CM plus 2 , i already have the Eclipse so I’m sure it will be amazing for finer detail. Would you recommend the bloodline series of paints. Thanks once again
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That's 2 legendary airbrushes. I'm sure you will love the micron. I prefer the normal line of createx illustration colors as the bloodline series is a lot of marketing with silly color names.

@@theartworkshop ok yea I hear you. I’m slowly building up my collection. I also ordered some stencils from Artool but will make some of my own too. Just cannot stop watching your videos. I’m not a natural artist mostly only ever see stick men. Ha ha. But I’m working hard on my drawing skills and am learning so much. The grid is so valuable too. Please keep those teaching ones coming. 🙏

@@wallacenock7423 No one is a natural painter. It's a skill you learn, just like everything else. You'll get there as you continue to practice drawing and painting. I'm biased but I think learning to draw/paint is one of the best things you can do for yourself. best of luck!

What would you suggest for a lefty painter.? Should i switch the portrait to looking left? would it be easier for me ?
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
doesn't matter, same either way for me. I usually paint from left to right just so that my hand isn't resting on wet paint.

Yes, just add some white to it if you'd like. I find using only sepia is easier to erase though.

Can I ask why do you remove the backpiece of the airbrush?
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Great question. Since airbrushes regularly clog with tip dry, I can access the needle easily with the handle removed. It also makes it faster for me to change colors and clean the airbrush in between painting sessions.
