If Louis and Armand are dead set on selling their story, they need to decide whether "Lestat is so possessive you have to kill him to become free" or "Lestat just leaves everyone he loves" is true.

Ah yes, Armand's fan fiction episode 😂😂 I love how this was written, you can practically feel how manipulated the story is from Armand's perspective. There's no way Lestat would've dropped Niki like that for Armand 😂 I really want season 3 now. Thanks so much for this reaction ❤

Aaaaaaand we officially have a canon "sexy Claudia Halloween costume" like Daniel joked about in S1. The blue babydoll dress is a sad but very effective contrast to the pink dress Claudia bought last episode "for a woman".

Just to clarify, Armand and Lestat were together for a while (Not just a week). Lestat basically manipulated Armand, using his loneliness against him, to trick him into teaching him the abilities that (up until this point in Lestat's history) seemingly only Armand could do. The moment he got what he wanted, he bounced and the only compensation for it Armand received was the chest of gold/jewels. As if that would be enough, to sate Armand's dejection. "Never say I love you to a raging narcissist." is such an apropos line. Edit to add: I have found that every time Lestat's "ghost" appears this season, you really need to pay attention to his wardrobe. In the scene where Louis and Armand are walking by the river, the outfit Lestat is wearing is the same one from the church scene where he gives Louis the dark gift.

Not sure where you read Lestat and Armand were together but it's not in any book I have read. Lestat's boyfriend was Nicolas and he did try to avoid him after he was turned so he wouldn't hurt him but Nicolas wanted the dark gift , eventually Lestat relented and turned him. Gabrielle, Lestat's mother was also with him at this time and she warned him against becoming a companion to Armand,so he didn't. It's Armand's resentment about this that he left her out of the story. He bought The Theatre de Vampires and left it for Armand to run and be a caretaker to Nicolas. We know how that ended. 😊

Like Armand, you are omitting a very important aspect of why Lestat leaves Paris. The first being what is happening with Nicolas at the time the second being what goes down with Gabrielle his mother. Lestat isn't really a narcissist he's a survivor. Armand and Louis calling Lestat a narcissist in a way is them avoiding taking responsibility for their own actions and choices while painting themselves as victims. They call Lestat the Brat Prince because unlike any vampire before him or since him he truly moves to his own drum beat. He does and says things that no other vampire would dare even consider let alone do. Which is why after the first book Anne Rice makes him our hero for the duration of the chronicles. SPIOLER DON'T READ BEYOND THIS POINT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW And let's be fair. Since you are saying that Lestat used Armand. Be honest and also acknowledge that Armand used Louis to break with the theater and his coven. He used both Louis and Claudia in fact. And right now he's gaslighing both Louis and Daniel with his "version" of events. Also, the reason Lestat starts telling his own story in book form starting with The Vampire Lestat is because of the lies Louis tells in Interview with a Vampire. It's not until Lestat tells his story in that book that Armand and especially Louis start to understand everything Lestat has endured. And Louis starts to appreciate how much of a survivor Lestat is. Lestat sees the world as a Savage Garden, beautiful but dangerous. And he's well aware of his place in the food chain. He didn't want to be a vampire and was when given the choice was willing to die the dark gift was forced on him. There is a reason that there is no other book written from Louis perspective after Interview with a Vampire. And that's because Anne Rice with The Vampire Lestat suggests the Louis is an unreliable narrator who was seeking to justify and perpetuate his victim hood to the world. The subsequent books dispell that narrative. If you notice in the books Lestat never really lies to Louis he just doesn't tell him things. Also I felt it was a mistake on Anne Rice's part not to have at least have one more book written from Louis point of view after he finds out Lestat's back story and why he kept things from him and why Lestst loves Armand but keeps him at arms length. And that has to do with how and why Nicolas dies. Armand knew Lestst was leaving Paris and part of the reason he sets Armand up with the theater is because Armand promised to take care of Nicolas who at this point had gone mad. And Lestat felt his presence was hurting Nicolas more than helping him. He didn't leave callously because he'd gotten what he wanted from Armand. And Armand knows that. What Armand has never gotten over is that Lestat loved Nicolas more than him and that he loves Louis more than him because he feels his has much more to offer Lestat that either of them. He feels he is more compatible with Lestat's personality. And even though they have aged him up, we have to remember that when made Armand was only 15 years old. Which means his brain wasn't fully developed. Being over 500 years old doesn't change that fact. Also, Lestat doesn't get a true mentor/father figure until he meets Marius.

As much as I enjoy Dreamstat and all his commentary on Louis psyche just by existing (and his singing voice of pure velvet my gosh) it was such a treat to see the actual Lestat again doing his thing even through the lens of another suspect storyteller. Watching him own the stage in the french theatre and haul that huge crucifix over his shoulder into the crypt so he could dramatically shatter it on the floor just vividly reminded me how much I miss him. Also true or not, it's so funny to me what a thirsty lovesick doormat Armand paints himself as in the storytelling. "Yeah Lestat mocked and rejected me and dismantled my coven cult so I followed him around open-mouth staring for months and let him rail me in a public theatre box. Then Louis brought his crazy ghost along on all of our dates and had a reckless breakdown mürder that put the rest of our vampires at risk, so I defied the whole coven to let him live without joining us because he batted his sad eyes at me and invited me upstairs." Delainey Hayles has been a great Claudia so far but this was her best episode yet in my opinion. I just love the little ticks she gave to convey Claudia's pain, like her shaking hand she had to steady to apply her lipstick when first discussing Bruce. All commendations to her. And even with all that Sam the vampire theatre tech explaining the rat box was my favorite part of the episode. Like I have worked in a theatre I know that exact tone and manner of speaking he is using to tell the newbies how it's done. It's so spot on and it's to instruct on how to dispose of their bodies via rats. (Also I saw that "You are not qualified to talk to me" shirt. Very nice)

"thirsty lovesick doormat" should be Armands tagline like yes he is this big powerfull manipulative kinda insane vampire but he is also incredibly desperate and needy when it comes to someone loving him (which became clearer in ep 4) and i love that he's not this twirling mustache villian, none of them are which makes this show so interesting

This is my favorite episode so far. Justin Kirk is playing Raglan James. James is a very interesting character and he is linked to a very powerful organization that monitors vampires and witches and all forms of supernatural. We finally got more Lestat. I know everyone loves Louie and Armand but for me it's all about Lestat. He's my favorite character in modern literature! Enjoyed your reaction as always.

I think it's very clear that the tree room is Armand's room. The fact that in season one he called it sentimental is wild. Like you said, there's definitely something about the tree and how maintained and 'perfect' it's kept. What I find most interesting, however, is that the bookshelves are hanging and the lowest one is too high to reach from the ground. That means those books are only for people who can fly up to them, which is only Armand. It's almost like Armand purposely keeps information/knowledge from Louis. Which just. Wow. (also Daniel I know you're sick but how did you not clock that, who has bookshelves like that??? Especially after learning that some vampires can fly, but Louis cannot)

Good fanfiction Armand wrote, haha! So, yeah, this is not entirely what went down in the book, apparently. Lestat would never have chosen Armand over Nicolas, from what I’ve heard from book fans. There is a bit of an obsession and love/hate between the two of them. Their complicated relationship and dynamic is one of the most interesting ones in the book series, as well. And it does seem so! Now I really want season 3!

I "met" Justin Kirk on the "Angels in America" miniseries - such a brilliant show, I very much recommend (from Wikipedia: At its core, it is the fantastical story of Prior Walter, a gay man living with AIDS who is visited by an angel. The film explores a wide variety of themes, including Reagan era politics, the spreading AIDS epidemic, and a rapidly changing social and political climate) - and his performance in it was amazing

I was worried that Armand was going to kill Louis until he started fondling Louis's hair. He can't keep his hands off him like Lestat. Is anyone surprised that Louis invited Armand upstairs after telling him about his history with Lestat and Claudia not living for long? I wonder if Louis's motive is to seduce Armand to convince him not to tell the coven to kill Claudia. Do you think Armand really loves Louis or is he using him to get to Lestat? I know Lestat rejected him and I wonder if he sees Louis as a prize. On a side note, Louis did not look like he was into that kiss lol

Justin Kirk is playing essentially a major character from Book 4, The Tale of the Body Thief. And he works for the Talamasca which is broght up in the Queen of the Damned film and in the Mayfair Witches show - they're kind of the supernatural Men In Black full of like psychic humans. Also, unreliable narrator does not even BEGIN to describe Armand 😂 To say he is... telling a cliff's notes version is putting it lightly. He is dodging responsibility SO HARD, this is full out fanfiction.

Don’t trust Armand’s side of the story. He is not a reliable source. I don’t know exactly how they are going to handle this in the show but in the book Lestat hated Armand. Also, without spoiling anything, I’ll let you look research it if you want, but there’s a very different version of what actually happened to Armand’s original coven.

Armand is an unreliable narrator because he fails to relate what happened to Nicholas, because that is why Lestat leaves. Also, Armand was, is and will always be in one way or another in love with Lestat. And a lot (not all) of his actions regarding Louis are intertwined with his love of Lestat and his jealousy of the way Lestat loves Louis.
