Makes for great entertainment though.. I love all of the hollywood takes on demon's and angels, sometimes the big guy and his rival. My take on religion is really just people doing what I do with fiction. I escape reality by enjoying a good book or movie that has little to no connection to reality, that's what theists do but they have accepted a thing that can be on the same level as their reality because movies and books just don't cut it for them.

@@paulcontursi5982 I agree completely. I find it good to have such a record because when someone de-converts, one of the first things they hear is for them to talk to the local pastor/priest/whatever to explain why they're wrong. It's just good to have a VERY long and extensive record since at least 2006 that these people can't make this stuff make any more sense. I honestly think that's a big part of the decline in religiousness, at least in the US. When I was young, these arguments were very rare, and almost never publicized. Since at least 2006, these debates have been much more accessible, and it is increasingly difficult to justify these beliefs any more.

The answer is No. Not without first providing verifiable evidence that not only a god exists, but that god is their god and not any of the other 70,000 gods mentioned throughout human history. Then lastly providing verifiable evidence that the very book they read from is accurate and immoral all at once. Trying to convert someone who can literally see through and read the abhorrent actions mentioned and claimed in their book is going to be next to impossible.

Being a theist is irrational by default. You can make the case about "feels good", "gives comfort", "I feel it in my heart" BUT it all comes back to >they want it to be true against all odds< and this is danger to themselves but also to people around them... "Believe I'm doing the will of god" said every single soldier in every war, said every terror(ist) ever, said all these people hunting witches in the dark ages and people killing everyone who just didn't believe in their god...religions may not be the cause of ALL evil in the world, BUT I am certain it is the cause of a hell lot and a huge chunk of the evil in this world

Aww! Well let me explain it! In the beginning God created all of us & everything you see! God chose (He's a personal being) to create Humans & gave us our actual Free Will! So we can choose to do good or bad, and to want to have a personal relationship with God or to not & stay away from Him (whatever we choose to do)... Now GOD being Perfect, Holy, & Righteous can't truly interact with us, because we are Sinful! But God loves us so much, that before Eternity past, God had decided to send Jesus Christ (God The Son) down to Earth to eventually pay the ultimate price for the Sins of the World, by dying! Because GOD is so Holy & Perfect, Sin requires death for all of us Humans! But with Jesus Christ paying the Fine in Full with His shed blood and Death for us... Now GOD can offer Salvation, Total Forgiveness, & Everlasting Life with Him in Heaven & on The New Earth in the future as a Free Gift! If anyone just humbly Repents of all their sins (turn from them) and just start to completely Trust in Jesus & what He did for us (not in our good works). As a member of one of the last generations to experience traditional religious practices, such as baptism and church attendance on significant holidays like Christmas Eve and Easter, I had a profound realization at the tender age of seven. During a church service, I distinctly remember thinking to myself that the priest's words seemed devoid of genuine substance. This experience, coupled with my parents' own skepticism toward religious beliefs, led me to discontinue my participation in religious activities, as did the majority of our people. The churches became monuments of the past, some transformed into beautiful clubs (even a gay club in Amsterdam and Den Bosch), others became apartments or stunning libraries. I'm 51 now, (Dutch), and I know no one who attends church nowadays. It's something from the past. And we are doing better than ever. Can you imagine throwing away a huge part of your life on something that isn't real? Such a waste of beautiful time.

The Iliad was written around the 8th to 7th century BC. We know who wrote it and have a consistent source of manuscripts from Homer. There is one clear copy. At the very least, Linguistic and stylistic analyses indicate that the poems are coherent and sophisticated in their design, which supports the argument for a single author, or at least a final redactor who shaped the epic into its final form. We should think the word of God, the Bible, would have one historical and clear original that God could have preserved better than the Illiad, from which all other copies are based. You know, like the Illiad or the U.S. Constitution. We can even limit that expectation to the New Testament, written almost 1000 years later. Even then, we can't determine who wrote it or when they wrote it, and we know the writing styles are inconsistent even within books. If an all-powerful God cannot keep His documents as clear and safe and for at least as long as the Greeks, we are required to question that source of faith.
