Are young men becoming radicalized? Could they be further to the right than even their fathers and grandfathers? These are big questions that have yet to be answered definitively, but in some countries, electoral results and polls suggest that a meaningful contingent of young men are frustrated and may be finding a home in radical spaces.
Host Jerusalem Demsas talks to Dr. Alice Evans (x.com/_alice_evans?lang=en) , a researcher at Stanford University who has been traveling the world, diving into qualitative and quantitative research to uncover why some societies are more equal than others. GenX old man here, I think that society has failed to give young men role models anymore. The entertainment industry has re-gendered so many male characters and shifted it's focus to women and young girls with positive messaging that it has effectively ignored young men. Commercial messaging uses men as the sounding board to sell products to women, often casting them as foolish or inept for the purpose of marketing goods and services. Our media landscape has changed significantly from when I was a kid, our politics have become ugly and keyed toward restricting women's rights. We have some conflicting messaging today where media is bolstering womens rights, politics are restricting them, and the messaging for young men...is largely absent or it comes from conservatives and/or misogynists that promote some traditional version of masculinity that doesn't align with our present goals of an equal society for both men and women.

You still try to boil everything down to right vs left and radical vs non radical instead of just shutting up and saying the who, what, when, where, why and how. Given the current state of affairs, I don't think you polisci analysts are good for much of anything anymore. Unsubscribed.

women are not becoming more sexist. there is a lot more misogynistic content on the media than misandrist content. sexism always existed, religion, culture...

My main question is-does this interviewer ever shut up? It’s not even just her, it seems like a majority of interviewers now needn’t bother having a guest on because they do all the talking themselves. They have to gasp for air after “asking a question” by the time they get all their insertions and addendums etc into the “question”. It’s very annoying-if you’re just going to interview yourself, stop announcing a guest, it’s false advertising. If you are going to have a guest, for dog’s sake shut up and let them say something. I presume you didn’t invite them on because you thought they’d be boring or uninformed.

Mainstream KZfaq comments have become more misogynist. Mainstream Reddit has become less misogynist. COVID isolation took a heavy toll on young men’s mental health. We need more focus on men’s mental health and support for fathers (etc) who are raising boys to help their sons channel their emotions healthily. There are some amazing fathers and male role models out there, but they’re not famous

The truth is that liberal upper class women have become liberated from the social norms of the past while men and most working women are still stuck working in a feudal society. When the factory workers start having consent at work we can start talking again about all that other liberal froot-loop bs

Men need a productive income to create a home for a family, that is not degrading. We actually care about status very little as long as we can achieve our life goals of within our status. Factory work is not consensual, and neither is the draft. It may be unpalatable for you to hear this, but all the liberal bs sounds like crap when I have to go to work at a factory or starve, when I have to go to the draft or go to prison, and where I will probably get SA in prison for like missing a speeding ticket. Like how many times have the cops put you in handcuffs, I know most men have been cuffed, most women haven’t, etc, etc. So to us, the state and the system kinda all looks like it exists to keep women and rich people safe literally on our backs while we are under threat of force and SA. So like y’all’s shit sounds dumb at some point like I have never had autonomy over my body because men are inherently ‘dangerous’ to society but y’all want bodily autonomy at the cost of the birth-rate, women historically vote for political leaders who send MEN to war while y’all don’t get drafted, etc, etc.

This entire podcast is just two liberal upper class women trying to explain away the social problems that they caused by saying that all young men are just losers. 4 young men end themselves for every young woman that does. Life is terrible for young people right now, but I think you can say that it’s at least 3-4 times harder for men, because 3-4 times more of them end themselves. Brothers you are not alone, they just aren’t listening to us. Stay strong kings.

It’s interesting that when you view online communities of “Men Going Their Own Way,” the language is focused on women and wishes to commit violence on them. In “Women Going Their Own Way” communities, there is bitterness but the focus is on personal freedom, not wishing to rape or hurt men.

I wouldn’t say they are becoming misandrists; it’s more a case of them becoming less christian with regard to sexual ethics. They don’t hate men, but they do resent the fact that sexuality is now based on the male pattern and not the female one.

@@user-fed-yum If there were two sports, basketball and soccer and I said that I hate everything about soccer e.g. dribbling kicking, and it should be more like basketball in essentially every way and then someone countered by saying that I just don't like soccer would they be wrong? THIS IS A STATISTICAL ARGUMENT, IF YOU HATE EVERY SEXUAL DIFFERENCE THAT MEN DEMONSTRATE, YOU HATE MEN.
