A Weapon of Mass Destruction. This song shook the pillars of Apartheid in Azania 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 especially in Cape Town. This is one of the best 12" singles. Best Riddim, Conscious lyrics and a Dangerous version. 🎼🎤🎹🥁🎻🎸.

Wow lucky! He really was something special, in a league of his own. This was a man who put just as much love and passion in his music, as he did in his real life day to day. And he really lived the life he sung about...i remember listening to a producer talk about d. Brown, n he was saying how he'd record a hit track, and when he'd get paid he'd take it back tp his home town and distribute the prosperity to his community and family. There aren't too many genuine people like that out in the world anymore...😥

And Jonah was swallowed by a whale I would tell you. And Jah punished Jonah I would say. Yeah. Jah! is the King of Kings and Jah! Jah! is the Lord of Lords and Jah! Jah! is the Conquering Lion and Jah! Jah! is of the Tribe of Judah. And who don’t know it have to know it by now or he’s ain’t gonna get around to know it because there will be no next time around I will tell you” “Do It” “Jah!” ”and I will tell you that” “Rastafari!!” ”Jah Jah is the King of Kings, Jah Jah is the Lord of Lords.” “Jay” “Without any apology, I say it once and I say it twice. And if I feel like say it again I will say it thrice as I would tell you ‘bout the song that you like it on the chart for the very last time. Alright….. And Jah do it thy work thyself.” “Jah!”. “And when Jah come to judge,” “Rastafari!” ”Jah don’t partial. Jah judge down onto the judge that judge it. Jah judge onto judge that judge it. So will Jah do it. Jah do thy work thyself. Jah Jah do thy work thyself. Yeah. And you can have the whole world but give unto I Jah. You can have the whole wide world. You can have the whole wide world but give me Jah Jah. You can have the whole wide world but give me Jah Jah. Truth by Jah is all I really need? And I really need it I would say. You can really have the whole wide world. Really have the whole wide world. But Jah loveth thy son. And Jah loveth thy daughters. And Jah loveth thy fathers and thy mothers and thy sisters and thy brothers and all thy family. And Jah give it out unto himself as sacrifice. So give thanks and praise unto Jah.” “Jay.” “So, give thanks and praise unto Jah.” “Jah!” “Rastafari!!” “Really work and chant Jah Jah name. You got to work and chant Jah Jah name. You got to work and chant Jah Jah name. Chant Jah Jah name and don’t feel ashamed. Cause you got no one to blame,” “Jay” “when you call upon Jah name. Come make we call upon Jah name. Come make we call upon Jah. Jah Rastafari!” ”Selassie I (Sela Say I) All aba hai”. Tell you that great stone have to move. Tell you that great stone have to move. Whether by a chapter even by a call, whether by a chapter even by a call that great stone have to move. It really have to move.” ”Jah!” “Rastafari!!” A brief Interlude is followed by the Dub Version. The root toasters art. This is by far the most difficult roots lyrics transcription project I have undertaken to date. Toasters rap very fast and they are difficult to keep up with. It is even more difficult when you are dealing with two toasters and three singers. Five Man Army is one of the great Dillinger’s most ambitious projects to date. Spanning artists from two generations (measured by activity timeline) Five Man Army features Dillinger and his great friend Trinity (two first generation roots toasters) as well as second generation singers: Al Campbell, Wayne Wade and Junior Tamlin. The challenge was on two different levels. First level is deciphering and transcribing. Second level is attributing. The toasters Dillinger and Trinity sound almost alike. The singers Al Campbell and Wayne Wade also sound almost alike. Junior Tamlin’s voice lies somewhere in between, sometimes high other times low and raspy. Attribution was quite difficult. You must have a keen ear. Note: I do not own the rights to these lyrics and any errors of transcription are entirely mine. As an aside I suspect that Dillinger (b. Lester Bullock) was really the producer of this great work and that “Lewin Bones Lock” of who there is very little trace in roots annals, is merely his alias for trying out his hands at musical production. Great piece of art. A classic by any measure. - Chu Konwea

@lawrencenjawe19354 жыл бұрын
Commendable and certainly painful work. I applaud you. But as a pointer, Trinity & Wayne including Dillinger are second generation toasters not First. That distinction goes to U-Roy,Al Capone (late 60s onwards),I-Roy and Big Youth....
@chukonwea59564 жыл бұрын
Thanks bredrins for the commendations. @Lawrence Njawe. Assuredly U-Roy, Dennis Alcapone and Big Youth were the pioneers. But I deliberately lump Dillinger, Trinity and Jah Stitch as the junior members of that first generation, with I-Roy somewhere in between those two groups, because of their stylistic similarities. By 1975 Dillinger was already very big. Don't forget too that those pioneers were initially sound system deejays for a large part of their early careers as was I-Roy. Dillinger and Trinity started as full-fledged recording artistes. Blessings.
