Thanks to our growing Patreon community, we are able to hire Benoit for more window work!
Patreon funding goes directly toward renovating the historical Chateau de Lesigny domain.
Special thanks to our dear Patrons: Andrea, Jesse, Bernadette, Theo, and Morgan for your outstanding support of this Beau Chateau!
You can help support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community and gain access to exclusive videos, updates and more!
Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This week, we manage to cut out a tree from within the moat walls. We install the travertine in the bathroom project, and try magnet fishing with Vincent's super magnet in the chateau moat!
Our "beau chateau" (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France. Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way!
As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a U.S. Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have a long road ahead of us and we are excited to share the experience with you!
You can support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community, where you can also gain access to exclusive videos and behind the scene access with Daphne and Ian! All patron funding is used to renovate this historical French Chateau. Every patron is paramount to our chateau renovations and we thank you all tremendously!

The pins would have come from clothing. Since you have a medieval chateau base, wealthy women's clothing was often held together with pins. Even servants would have used them.

Ian, buy some lengths of decommissioned fire hose to use as sleeves on your rope to prevent wear from the stones. You don’t want it to give way while you are hanging over the wall. Sailors use fire hose to shield their lines from high winds rubbing the lines.

Depending on how old the chateau is they could be dress pins. Pins were used to attach sleeves, ruffs and other clothing items during the renaissance.
@alexk7973
@alexk7973 11 ай бұрын
the chateau is definitely old enough. But I‘d expect the pins to have turned into sludge by now, if continuously kept inside a body of water, no? They wouldn‘t be made from stainless steel. On the other hand, I‘m sure the film crews and wedding decorators have used lots of pins and needles to attach decorations, flower arrangements and the like to the bridge

I have a theory about the pins or needles in moat. Clothing was all held by pins in many of the Elizabethan and Victorian Era's as well as others. Especially for the woman's dresses. Servants who washed the clothing would be dumping the water from the Laundry into the moat, the pins missed would be in the bottom of wash bins and dumped along with the water. As a metal detectorist, I find buttons, pins, and other items often near doors of old buildings where the water from the wash was dumped. Or under where clothes lines would have been.

You’re getting really close to being done with the bathroom. Clearing the moat walls will take a lot longer. If they are a priority then physically adding them to your ‘to-do’ list immediately. Fall is fast approaching and the water will start to get cold. Then it’s not only a difficult job; it’s also a cold, wet, freezing difficult job! If it’s not that urgent, then carry on as you have been. Is Miss Archaea always Daphne’s shadow? Seems wherever Daphne goes Archaea will follow! Cheers, Doc ❤
