What’s in the ball attached to the stick? Why are they different in size and color? What’s their purpose?
@ChetGustoph
@ChetGustoph 3 жыл бұрын
There’s nothing in the ball there different sizes because the cats are different sizes there purposes is to have a object for the cats to focus on and direct them
@TallulahFoxxx

Cats can see certain colours more distinctively, so having a bright coloured ball allows the keepers to attract their attention more easily. The way the training goes is they have to touch the coloured ball, and when they do, the keeper blows a whistle and gives them a treat ☺️ this way, they learn to follow the ball (so a keeper or vet can see them from different angles and they’ll stand still), and they learn to associate the whistle with getting a treat/reward ☺️ if they just used the ball itself, they wouldn’t have any motivation to “play the game” - the whistle and treat helps them connect it all together. Later, if a keeper blows a whistle, they’ll stop whatever they’re doing and run over to the keeper because they know whistles mean treats 😂🤓💁🏼‍♀️

Just a random observation. The fences on their new enclosure don't seems high enough.
@Sassafrass95

I guarentee you unless someone gives the cats a reason to jump over they won't it costs them way too much energy and the risk of little reward, in fact big cats can easily scale zoo walls if they are motivated enough so honestly so long as no one taunts or pushes these cat's buttons they won't be escaping by jumping over any time soon

@@Sassafrass95 I'm just remembering my Pomeranian/poodle mix puppy who was gated in our kitchen when training on wee wee pads. She would hop on her hind legs when we would leave the house and when we got home, she would be running around the house. We couldn't figure it out cuz the gate wasn't moved. After a week, we pretended to leave the house, and snuck back in and caught her scaling the fence like Spiderman! Lol! So those fences gave me flash backs!

Sadly the zoo in my town does not do training with wild cats even though they are also part off the european breeding program. i always thought off it as a nessisarity to spare the cats some stress ironicly our elephants are trained and there is a lot off keeper animal contact with khinos and okapi and such a kick or slam from these animals can be just as dangerous as a clawd slap from an big cat i just dont get it where do they draw the line you could argue that when the animals are released someday (maybe) that they are too used to humans and easy prey for trophy hunters but wouldent it be then more benifitial to give stuffed animals an traditional chinese medicine a verry bad stigma so no one will buy that stuff and if no one buys it its not worth anything also that could applie to elephents and okami and rhinos as well they have horns or pretty fur so again i am not sure what the manegement of that zoo in my town is thinking there

Lets be honest. These cats and any zoo animal would enjoy being in the wild without human interference than being in a big cage. They would rather have nature which is limit less to where they can go. I think zoos are good for education, but the negatives far out way the positives
@ThePageOfSpace
@ThePageOfSpace 3 жыл бұрын
Stop assuming you know whats better for these animals than the animals themselves. If they were unhappy their caretaker would know. Additionally these animals wouldn't make it in the wild, they were born in captivity.
@thomasl4992
@thomasl4992 3 жыл бұрын
@@ThePageOfSpace you don’t think I realize that they are unable to be set free in the wild??? What I’m saying is that humans should stop catching tigers for zoos and instead of a cage, try building large open areas where they can run around but will still need human feeding. I’m am well aware of this. Would you agree that wild animals would be happier in the WILD than in a cage?? But I understand your point. I suggest you debate in a better way. I respect your ideas and believe that you are right in a way, but owners are unable to understand if a wild animal such as a tiger is “happy” or “sad”. We just make our best judgment.
@ThePageOfSpace
@ThePageOfSpace 3 жыл бұрын
@@thomasl4992 Focus on the topic please, because you are being very emotional. They do not have owners, they have caretakers. The people who own the sanctuary do not take care of the animals. The cats are very capable of letting it be know if they are unhappy, and most of these animals only need large areas to find food not because they want a large area to explore. If they have sufficient food they are only going to use a space about that size. To answer your question, the lack or presence of a cage only affects people with a mind frame like yours not that there is anything wrong with it. You are worried, which is admirable. But these animals specifically do not care about this cage, which they could climb out of if they were unhappy, because all of their needs are met. You want them in the wild because you think that is best for them. But if they were unhappy we would easily be able to tell that their needs weren't being met.

Okay first of all you shouldn’t of tamed the cats there not made to be tamed by humans and if you release them back to the wild they won’t run away from poachers so if they get killed out there it’s all your fault But you let your selfishness get the better of all of you and tamed them Some animals aren’t meant to be tamed by humans including big cats so maybe you should change how you work around here In stead of ruining their chances at survival in the wild And your literally the only cat sanctuary who tamed them so that’s proves that your doing the wrong thing

I know you all mean well to the cats but your not helping them in anyways except vaccinating them apart from that you’ve you ruined their natural instincts
@ConferencePear
@ConferencePear 3 жыл бұрын
They have been trained, not "tamed". Trained to allow people to vaccinate them and give them other medical treatment without them having to be sedated, which reduces stress for the cats. These cats are born in captivity and are not going to be released back into the wild. Lots of animal sanctuaries use this kind of training on their animals. Please get your facts right before accusing a conservation charity of being selfish.
