I cried my guts out while watching The Blaze performing Territory in Lisbon this summer. Coming from a culture of deeply rooted family values but living away from the country I was born in, I relate to this video so much.

I remember when I moved away (to France). I was 22 and had no idea what I was doing in life, all I knew was that I had to get away. My mother supported the decision to my face but she kept saying that I'll always comes home, ''because that's I always do''. I don't think she delieved that I really would move away so far. When I left I wasn't scared I was excited, I had no money, no phone, and I spoek no French at all. I had a person I could stay with and they would meet me at a train station in Centre at a certain time. My mother and my sister both brought me to the airport and we sat and had a last talk in the cafe there. Everyone was normal and happy, mother saying things like stay safe, watch out for pickpockets, it was all very normal. I remember thinking how well my mother is dealing with it all. The time came and I had to get through security and wait for my plane so I had to say goodbye. I kissed my mother and sister, big hugs and my mother made a joke then I walked off. As I was walking away from them I immediately felt alone, even though they were just a few meters behind me I knew they were gone and it wouldn't ever be the same. I said I wouldn't turn around but I couldn't help it, I had to wave goodbye to my mother. She was on the floor in tears, she couldn't even breathe or stand.I had never seen her so broken. I didn't think about how much I was hurting her because I was young and needed a new life. I wasn't allowed to walk back then and I had to leave her. That was the hardest point for me. I wish I didn't look back.

From the very beginning, I felt a connection, seeing myself in the clip from minute 0. It reminded me of how I used to live in Morocco, doing the same things - doing push-ups at home, striking the monkey posture, running with friends, just being myself. Once again this song and the video came up to me like gawd sent… I can’t begin to describe my childhood as a Bosnian refugee who lost everything in the 90s. Assimilated to Germany and it took them almost 6 years to say NO to us. USA was next… Im here living in Northern California but always dream of a home coming like that. The only problem is that I have almost nobody left back at the home country. They are all gone, either dead or moved somewhere in the world . If you’re reading this I hope that you will understand. I get tears in my eyes every time I watch this master piece, as a palestinian who lived abroad from age 18 for almost 6 years then came back home (due to pandemic and other personal reasons) I can feel everything in this scenario, in Arabic it's called "ghareeb fi bladak", to be foreigner/stranger in your homeland. It's so many struggles combined you deal with, it's the active and post-colonialism we are going through in such countries, North Africa and all blad al sham and central Asian countries, we are tired yet we want to fight back, and decolonize our minds and bodies. My ultimate dream is to see the day when all borders and walls will fall and have a huge party all together from Sahara to Kabul and through AL Quds and Jaffa, Beirut, South to Sanaa, Algiers Baghdad.. Thank you the blaze

My father died 10 days ago and I'm not home and I can't get back home because my graduation is tomorrow, and because of that situation I still do not realize that my dad is just gone for good without a proper goodbye and I will never see him again and somehow I feel like I relate to the way the guy in the video dancing filled with anger and rage and fighting the air. I'm angry but there's no one to blame.

I feel something special watching this video

I'm from Algeria where this story happens, the scenario is very well made, it about a "harrag" (someone who goes to another country illegally seeking a better life) coming back to his original territory (home) to the sad miserable life, where he's forced to live, so he starts going crazy for it and loses his mind on it.. it's kinda sad that countless amount of people are living like this. (this is my interpretation of it tho.) edit: after a while, and through the replies, i realised that everyone can make their own interpretation depending on their emotional situation when watching... it hits different people differently, that's true art...evokes emotions. (some hate, some relate, some miss their home/family/territory, some feel proud, some feel threatened.. etc. thanks for all the replies)

I'm still having so much trouble believing that this was pure acting. The way I was crying with him in the beginning is exactly the reason why I was convinced this video was real. No dialogue and this character and his story are three-dimensional. This is easily the best music video I've had the privilege to watch.

The actor is depicting the internal state of every young northern African citizen. So much respect for the art work and the directing of this video piece.

I heard this song sometime in 2018. I was definitely distant from my family especially my father. Watching this song enabled me make a conscious effort to try and get closer to him and to my family in general. To stay in touch with friends who helped me make the person I am today and stood by me throughout. I am thankful to this song and the video which is a true work of art to bring out so many emotions out of me. Watching this for the first time was an out of body experience and it still gives me chills watching it back every time.

Never have I ever been so touched by a piece of music video. The inicial drama setting, both in the acting and the melody. The majestic set up. Amazing. I was even more amezed with the, almost dance like, flow with the melody through out the music. In tune with the beat. Great camera and lighting, I can't quite what it is, but the clip is gourgeus all around. And finally the window into the lens of somewhere else, foreign to what we're most surrounded. To watch life all around, so different, yet so similar. It makes one thinks that we barely know the surface of what it is to be like this... A day in the life, in the TERRITORY. Mind blown, 10/10 would and will recommend to everyone!

This is the story of a man who rediscover its territory and find a part of himself that he thought lost for ever. The gorilla at the end is the symbol of this primary feeling, in its territory he feels free.

This guy is a beast at acting!! holy shit this performance is fucking real

This is a prime example of "Show don't Tell" No dialogues, but you can clearly understand what the guy went through. Migrated to get a better life for himself and his family, had problem with the law and probably got incarcerated and came back home. He's happy to be free again but he's also defeated. I especially like the scene on the rooftop where everyone is praying and he's looking around ashamed. That show he lost his fate too.

This track hits people differently, for me it’s longing to return to your home but once you do you realise you no longer belong there, I see it in the morning when the men pray and he sits alone. He is solitary while surrounded by men his own age, his slow realisation he doesn’t belong and his frustration at the end the gorilla chest pump, his lack of territory.
