Genius. Thank you so much. You saved me a trip to the repair shop days before my New Year's gig. My son is a drummer so there were plenty of drumsticks and even some Lincoln logs. Rrally appreciate it. Thanks again!

Thanks... I tried with chicken drumsticks but they were too greasy. Normal pieces of wood worked for me. Thanks very much, Art!

Art, good to see you! Glad to have found you on here. Been many years since Redwing, good to see you’re still in the craft! I chuckled when I saw you dump your box of wood and saw the wood dowel bearing plate seat tool we made. I still use mine as well!

Hi Wes, It is good to hear from you. I sometimes wonder who is still repairing instruments after 26 years and I am glad to see that you are too.

Hi. My tuning slide is stucked because I knocked it somewhere and bow is little bit missaligned but still can regulate it. Do this change the sound of trombone?

Mine has mostly sat in a case for 20 years. Its rusted some, not very much. It is a trigger trombone so both tuning slides are stuck and the trigger doesnt work.

My tuning slide is crooked and I don't know how to fix that, you said there will be a video out soon in your description but I don't see a link yet. My tuning slide is stuck all the way in, not farther out like you said is usually the case, one side will not budge at all while the other budges a little.

I was hoping to do a video on that, but I have not done one yet. The method shown in the video should work to get your slide unstuck. Use leverage mostly or entirely on the stuck slide and not as much on the side that is a little loose. I will try to do a video on the crooked tuning slide, but I am not sure exactly when I will be able to do it.

I got an old king 605 and the bottom tuning slide pipe broke in half as in half stuck in the tuning slide and the other stuck in the trombone any suggestions on how i can get the parts unstuck ??
@TheBrassandWoodwindShop2 жыл бұрын
If part of it is sticking out you can solder the slide back together and pull it out. If it is stuck all the way in you can try to get it out with a slide expander but it can easily cause more damage if it is not done correctly. It may have to be unsoldered and then removed. It is hard to say without seeing it.

My trombone is a 1 year old yamaha ysl-154 tenor trombone and it is very hard to pull out the tuning slide is that a problem?
@TheBrassandWoodwindShop6 жыл бұрын
On a newer trombone, the likely problem is not lime build-up, but that when the main tuning slide is pulled, one side of the tuning slide is being pulled slightly farther than the other side and it is getting cocked in there ever so slightly out of parallel. Then it cocks from one side to the other as you are pulling it out. There is a way to help the problem, but it requires a saw and removing some metal. I hope to do a video on this in the future. If you do not want to do any cutting, you can just keep the tuning slide well greased and try to push it straight using two hands to hold the bell section and two thumbs to push out the slide. I hope this helps.

Some players do just that... play first position a bit off the cork barrels. Lets you do slide vibrato in first, plus lets you play the 7th partial Ab in tune.

What model/make trombone was that you were working on?

It was an older model King. I think it was a Liberty model, but I am not sure.
