SOME TIPS Small Taxis: -Never Take a small taxi near the Train Station or a tourist place (just walk away to the next street) -Wave for an empty one, if empty ride then say the destination. -Never ask how much, there is a small counting (Elctronic/Mecanic) box near the gear stick, it's putted there for a reason which counting distance/Dh (Moroccan currency) so remind him to use it at the start of the trip. -Max Passengers in a the same destination are 3, and if you're under that, sharing a trip with a passenger is optional if he's going the same direction as you (just make tell him to use the second slot in the counter). -Minimum trip price is 7.5 Dh. -If the taxi driver try to put you out or resist any of the above, tell him you're not getting out until he take you to the closest police station to fill a complaint . -Don't think it's personal, Small Taxi driver are asshole even to the locals. -Don't just give up and leave him. -Be polite and don't get emotional and don't pick a fight with them no matter what, you're a tourist... act like tourist in this case. -if he try to pull some tricks or he's going to lunch or ending his shift soon and can not take you, tell him why you stopped then. -Taxies Drivers make around 500$ to 900$, if he own the taxi that will go to 2000$ to 3000$ clean out of charges (if he make more than you an you wanna let him rip you then shame on you, but if you do make more than him still shame on you just give the motherfucker a big tip or just rent a car at the airport or in the city for 30$ a day, or call an UBER). -After all of this remember to always turn on your GPS, if they don't abduct (kidding) you they will make your trip as long as hell. Big Taxis: -Easy peasy not much talk -Have one destination, and you just ask where they go, and tell on the GPS if they pass by or close to your destination. -Have a specific spot, just ask a local he'll gladly show you where. -Price in the city are unified between 5/6 Dh. -If it's a Mercedes taxi you'll get to share the same seat with someone (just hope it's not a mature woman, but c'mon it's 5Dh/1$) -If it's big Dacia or the new big ones then no problem. -The taxi is not your tour guide, keep an eye on your GPS when you get near your distination tell him to stop, he'll gladly get ride of you whereever you want to have an empty place for another passenger (you can tell him to tell you when you get to your destination at the start but you can't just rely on that) BUS: -Same principle as everywhere in the world. -BUS station are everywhere -Know destination based on numbers (ask who ever is close to the bus station) i think there is an App now for that. TRAIN: Locals are complaining about them, Better avoid them and take the Big Bus (Called ''car'' in moroccan) companies like Suprators, CTM you can buy your ticket online. Simple tips: -Buy a Moroccan Phone Chip for 4/5$ for GPS and cheap Calls -Don't accept every invite, and if someone bother you, express that on your face don't smile like a jackass repeating soft ''no'', they will ride you if you let them (it's not india but some fuckers will bother you). -Don't be stupid -Don't act smart -Don't smoke too much Hashish (weed). -enjoy the trip -Have fun

Woooow Wolf dude, thats some amazing advice! We could fill an entire episode with this much wisdom. Wish we would have met in Morocco so you could explain this to other travellers as well 😉 Indeed, taxis require some persistance and knowledge to get the right price. And we tourists are easy targets but we these tips you can get around that 😁🙏

@@TheBudgeteers Well if the price was double even triple you can compromise but going 10 to 20 times the normal price then this goes beyond ripping. As a traveler too i expect nothing more nor less from the locals of any country i'll visit, just being treated as a human like everyone else. Also i think charity as a moral option, not a must based on how i look or where i come from. Anyway keep going guys, your serie is really good and promising with positive vibes, Have fun!

haha I also took this train from Fes to Marrakech in the middle of August, and omg...I have never felt so much heat as I did in this train ride! But it was nice! some of the locals were playing drums and there were some kids dancing and some ladies shared food with us! so it was an amazing experience :) Great video budgeteers!

Yes, I know where Ohio is! My hostel experience was bad in Chefchaouen, but great in Fés! If you have a long trip on the train, first class is the only way to travel. Second class is only good for short two-three hour trips. Tonight I will ride the night train from Tangier to Marrakech with a bed in the sleeper car. I hope my long journey goes a little smoother! My other train trips were very good so I have high hopes. 7 passengers in the Mercedes Grand taxi is normal, we took one the other day 7 people and although it was super cramped, it was incredibly cheap. We paid 5 Dirhams each for about a 4km ride! Definitely don’t take a ride from anyone who is offering you a drive or usually help for that matter. Petit taxi is the best way to travel and don’t worry if the taxi driver pulls over to pick up extra fares, it is normal. So if you see a Petit taxi with only 1 passenger and you’re looking for one, try to hail it anyway! I hope you haven’t fallen for any scams during your travels. Good luck if you’re still out there. Everything I’ve heard about Marrakech is really bad and you guys seem to have about the same things to say. Hope you didn’t try Moroccan beer or wine, because the ones I had were very bad! Best of luck guys!
@TheBudgeteers
@TheBudgeteers 5 жыл бұрын
Wow amazing OriginalBrett 😮 thats some solid advice right there. I wish we knew that before we tried the trains... Yea sleeper trains sounds much more comfortable. Haha the beer and wine wasnt good indeed, not really worth the price but we wanted to try it. Yea we love petit taxis, we only tried the grand mercedes once but he charged us the tourist amount. Getting scammed is a normal occurance in Morocco, you have to keep your wits about you all the time. Double check everything. But its a fantastic and adventurous journey, ours has ended by now but good luck with yours. Your advice is really much appreciated. If you know of nice spots or things to do, keep sending it to us. We love some suggestions from other travellers🙏😊
@OriginalBrett610

The Budgeteers The sleeper train was very good. From Tanger to Marrakech it was a little expensive @ 370 Dirhams.. But you get a place to sleep and transportation! I was worried about the bathroom, but it was just a hole straight to the tracks below so not as bad as your experience. Guess it varies train to train. The mountains now have lots of snow, not very good for hiking. Alas I cannot check on your stickers! I will be checking out the desert this week though. Also, how long do we have to buy a Series 3 T-Shirt? Hopefully a little while longer yet! :P

You were so lucky to be able to do this trek a short time before (your video was uploaded 1 month before) the brutal murders of the 2 Scandinavian girls that were camping near the mountain. Because of this the Moroccan government insisted that there be extra security measures. Now you have to go through a checkpoint where they check that you have an 'official' guide (obviously paid for) with you before you can trek to Toubkal peak.

Not sure what you guys were complaining about, this train looked beyond first class compared to the Indian ones! 😂😂 Aah the Atlas Mountains, it's gorgeous in that region! Stunning scenes from the summit! All worth it in the end eh? (Until you are faced with the thought of going back down 😫) Best moment: Planting the Budgeteers sticker at the summit!!
