A few tips - on the first day, it is good to spray the the device with sugar syrup - while removing the syrup, the bees clean and polish the cells. It is good that all the plugs are mounted on the device, not just 30. Because the queen bee often lays 2-3 eggs in one cell, which is not good, or she does not lay at all. Keep in mind that with a longer stay in the hive or after multiple usage , the bees build up the cells of the Jenter, and the queen may not be able to lay the next time inside because she cannot touch the bottom of the cell. If so - the devices should be cleaned, making sure that there is no built-up wax on the top of the cells more than 1mm. Unfortunately, the Jenter web site does not have enough information about this and we have to exchange the information ourselves. Good luck,

My condolences on varroa. It was only a matter of time, but I had hoped that you'd dodge it.

definitely interested in following how this works! looks a lot easier than pulling frames and needing the steady hand for grafting.

Best of luck with your new adventure Mark, I think I will just give grafting a go once the swarm season is close to being over. With some of my bees sitting beside a canola crop I am flat out trying to keep them at home and removing swarm cells every week.

If you fill all the cells any surplus queens can be sold on or bartered (swapsy) to other bee keepers in need of them , good luck👍👍😎😎

Awesome video again! Encouraged me to visit my ladies this afternoon. Found a lot of bridge comb filled with drone larvae. Also I enjoyed the Scooter short film!

Fat bee man, dirt rooster and barn yard bees KZfaq channels would show you cheapest to medium difficult methods. Cut out some brood, a long strip, wax glue the mess to a queen rearing frame and get on with it.

"Umsteck" would mean to pluck out and put somwhere els, like with hair transplants. The hairs are being "umgesteckt". "Verfahren" means something like "process". "The process of plucking out and putting somewhere els". Jenter is probably the bloke who invented it. Hope it helps

I wonder if you'll be able to import any mite resistant queens (VSH, Saskatraz, Bee Weaver, VSH, etc.). It'd be nice to take advantage of the 30 years of genetic selection that's been happening in the US to kick start things down in Oz.

I did exactly the same things today, for the same reason… maybe we’ll all become Queen breeders because we can’t get the queens from elsewhere…

Oxalic acid on paper towel or something and place it on the frames. The bees carry it into the hive. Pull the drone brood and check it for mites. Do a wash to determine how many you have relative to total bees

Oxalic acid is not registered for use in Australia mate, we have to remain hopeful the NSW DPI and the Bee industry can remain on top of the incursion and eradicate it from the east coast where it was introduced.
