Hey man! you are one hell of a Beekeeper, definitely entertaining to watch. Im from Canada and our winter id just ending, and its cold as balls still. Somehow those bees survive 6 months of below zero (coldest was -35c), we have to feed up the hives to 100lbs to survive! crazy eh, Keep at it man.

I know this is a old video, so no idea if you still watch these comments, but ants are indeed (somewhat) related to bees. Ants originally (millions and millions of years ago) came from wasps and split off. And wasps and bees are sonewhat related as far as I know. Antkeeper here btw.

With your warmer temps , does the sugar not ferment in the Hive? I know the bees try and keep the hive at about 36 degrees, but that is about the right temp for Fermentation? Does it cause condensation on the roof? Do you feed them water that way also to trick the emus? Sorry for all the questions. This clip might be of value for winter time, savesa lot of mucking about: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bKtdnKx5vq2-ops.html

honeypot ants - which gorge themselves until their bellies swell to the size of grapes with a nectar-like substance - are eaten raw as sweet treats by aborigines. Maybe you could set up a nuc with honeypot ants.
