Our door window blind stopped working, in true Caravan nut style I decided to take it apart and try to fix it. This is what I did...

Update.... your vid gave me the confidence to take my sticking blind off, my spindle was still attached and all it needed was a bit of lubrication. Carefully dribbled some WD40 along the spindle and moved the blind up and down a few times and the blind now works a treat all tension restored. I think the spring had just got a bit dry and was sticking.

Just had to fix mine as it happens. But with mine the bottom part had broken where it holds the material between the 2 pieces of plastic. I had to put a couple of screws through it to hold it together. Did the job nicely. £45 for a new one!!

Same with mine plastic part of blind broke that keeps it closed Used very small part of door knob and a piece of elastic It’s done the job now for 2 years

I looked at the bottom part to make sure it was secure. The cost of a new one made me determined to fix it! Thanks for watching

Thank you so much for this! Just about to order a new blind at £50. Figured I had nothing to loose so followed your video. Used superglue as didn’t have any gorilla glue and it now works perfectly. 👍

Glad it worked, I need to do mine again as it has come off the spindle. Stronger glue probably needed!

You could have bent a small part of the spring you glued to the plastic bit at a 90% angle, then heated a pin on the cooker and made a corresponding hole in the plastic and drop the little 90% spring part in the hole, then glue it, that should be a permanent fix, hope you understand.

Hi Martin I had the same problem instead of glueing the spring I extended the spring a couple of coils and extended the piece of the spring sticking out and made come through the slot on the plastic end and bent it so it in a L,, around the slot so it is tight when you push it back in the tube works fine

Thanks for this. I had the same problem but thought I'd try a no-glue method of repair first. Basically I just put it back together with loads of tension. That seems (so far; it's early days...) to apply sideways pressure between the straight part of the spring and the channel in the plastic part. Whether my fix works or not, it is a terrible design. Without this video I'd not have known how it worked - thanks again.

Glad the vid helped. I think a lot of things in a caravan are made on the cheap to keep the overall cost down. Having said that they are not cheap these days! Cheers

every caravanner has a toolbox made up of spares, adhesive,and tools etc as most repairs are done on pitch.

Same happens to my blind but it only works a few times then I have to retention it. Have found a supplier for a new one but they are out of stock and don't know when they will be getting them back in. If any one knows anywhere that has stock I'd like to know.
