Of your list, The Grizzled really appealed to me, I love those hard crunchy decisions - just gotta also make sure your gaming group appreciates them, too! I agree with Spirit Island being the cream of the crop but interestingly, my group did not like the Branch and Claw (aka the randomisation, 'playground' feeling) addition - we were much more invested in seeing the puzzle and figuring out a retort to solve it, and the expansion just threw us off, and we couldn't stick with it. Ah well, the base game is brilliant enough.

Have you played with the Jagged Earth spirits yet? They are so phenomenal I almost die from joy each time I play. I wasn’t a huge fan of the events and tokens with just the B&C expansion, but now with Jagged Earth I feel like even the randomness of the events is perfectly integrated into the game. Wouldn’t think of playing without them now.

Why almost everyone fogets about one of the most greatest coop game? Its The Sentinels of the multiverse! Tons of replayability, no alpha player, tons of content!

Sentinels is not bad, but I prefer Aeon's End.

What a great list guys, its only The Grizzled I've never got to the table and you've only reinforced my want for the game. Mysterium just doesn't work with the visual part of my brain :-) There's some solid solo capers in there as well, look forward to the next one.

Thanks dude! Yeah, if you get a chance, the Grizzled Armistice Edition is gorgeous and combines the original with the excellent expansion and adds a decent little campaign mode.

I'd give a nod to Robinson Crusoe. Although it's been punishingly hard the times I've played it.

Gents! How on earth did one of you not include Aeon's End! I love Marvel Champions but Aeon's End is a better game and scales way better.

Matthew Cowell I’ve played maybe 10 games or so with a pair of friends who went all-in on every expansion to date and while I enjoyed it quite a bit, I had some hang ups about core parts of the game that keep it lower on my own personal ratings. The setup of card pools is a bit cumbersome and deck building as an in-game mechanic is a hard sell these days for me. That said, I’d likely rate it as the best coop deck builder I’ve played and if you have a friend like mine who is willing to facilitate the game by owning all that content and curating a fun experience, it can definitely be a great time.

Man, there are too many good games to do our own personal 5s let alone arranging them into the 10 best. That said, Aeon's End just never really clicked for me. Maybe I have PTSD from over-saturation of Thunderstone Advance, a game I played to exhaustion.

I’m not sure how Marvel Champions scales, but I think Aeon’s End scales very poorly. At 1-2 players, it feels like enough turns to build a custom deck and cycle through it many times. At 3, every round someone gets to play more than the other two. Deciding who gets the bonus turn can be frustrating on top of having fewer individual turns overall, making your deck less modified and the game harder (similar to Pandemic scaling). I LOVE this game at 1 or 2, but I’d rather watch my friends play 2-player than join as a third :///

So good! Would be interested in your thoughts on narrative / campaign / story driven games as I find that's a big reason I like cooperative games because I like being engaged with a story

Michael Eden you’re speaking my language right there. I love traditional role playing games and I love crunchy mechanics and my happy place is where the two meet. Truly good campaign mechanics also elevate an experience from “good time” to “ongoing obsession” for me. Case in point, Marvel made the list because I found it so accessible and easy to break out for quick game sessions, but the Arkham LCG tops it thematically in my book and is one of the best narrative co-ops Ive ever played. The hurdle of deck construction beforehand can be a turn off to some, but FFG is leaning into that accessible lesson they learned from Marvel and released premade investigator decks. TL;DR Arkham Horror LCG is awesome for gameplay, narrative, coop, and campaign mechanics. Also Jack and I need to talk about narrative/campaign/theme-heavy games sometime because I’m all fired up now.

@@johnfoster4871 that's so good to hear we're on the same wavelength for this! I've been playing a lot of AH LCG and totally agree. Would absolutely love a video like that too.

Gentlemen, lighting. You have interesting things to say but your faces are blobs of shadow thanks to that awful overhead light. Put some ring lights on your cameras, dial down the overhead, and you'll get a much better-looking video

interesting list, but no mechs vs minions? not even honorable mention? i would say that it is a game you can safely recommend to any coop enthusiast

John is the MvM diehard and it didn't make his cut. (I think it was a strong contender for him though).
